Ubisoft’s pirates game had been trapped in the hell of Davey Jones’ locker for several years, but now the game is finally out for players and wannabe scallywags to enjoy. If you’re enjoying the life of a pirate, here you will find the start date for when Skull and Bones season 1 will come out, and you will also find all of the official new content promised by Ubisoft.

Skull and Bones features plenty of freedom for players to explore, from getting the best ships and ship loadouts to plenty of contracts to complete to level up fast. Be sure to check out our beginner’s guide if you’re just jumping into the world of Skull and Bones for the best tips and tricks.

While there is plenty of booty to capture and ships to sink from day one, the game is a live-service title meaning there will be numerous updates post-launch beyond just stability and fixes. Season 1 should start soon, and the extra good news is that all of the new additional content will be free.

When does Skull and Bones season 1 start?

Skull and Bones season 1 comes out and starts on February 27, 2024. This is official per the Raging Tides trailer Ubisoft debuted for the first season.

Early access launched on February 13th and the Standard full package is ready to set sail from February 16th. Season 1 beginning a week later gives all players plenty of opportunity to become accustomed to the game’s mechanics and upgrade their ships.

When season 1 does start, Ubisoft’s Year 1 FAQ says each chapter will last 12 weeks. With this in mind, below are the expected windows for when each Year 1 chapter will begin:

  • Season 1 – February 27th
  • Season 2 – May/June
  • Season 3 – August/September
  • Season 4 – November/December

None of the above is official besides Ubisoft’s verbiage that seasons will last 12 weeks. When chapters end, leaderboards will reset with new rewards available to unlock. In addition, your progress and unlocks will carry over from season to season.
