Palworld is one of the biggest and most successful games of the year. Following a blockbuster launch, the player count has begun to decline, and despite Pocketpair doing an incredible job with updates and improvements, there were hints that a more drastic change may have been needed.

Enter PVP, or the Pal Arena, a brand new mode confirmed to be coming to the game this year. We’ve even be treated to a teaser of a new mode, which is set to let players train their favourite Pals and then pit them against each other in an arena. There is no concreate release date yet, and Pocketpair were forced to post a correction regarding the release window, after initially stating the mode would arrive in summer 2024.

✓ Quick answer

Expect Palworld’s PVP mode before Christmas

We now know the major summer update will not have PVP – but Pokcetpair will need to act fast to stop player count dropping. An October or November launch now seems most likely in our view.

It’s certainly an exciting time for fans of the ‘Pokémon with guns’ epic. Pocketpair has recently added a new evil pal called Bellanoir, and leaks have unearthed many more new bosses and pals coming to the game in future updates. Not only are extra pals coming in the future, but the roadmap reveals even more content planned before the end of the year, with a ‘major’ Palworld update now confirmed for summer.

So, when is the Pal Arena launching?

There is no release date, but the Palworld PvP Arena update will come out in 2024, which has been confirmed by Pocketpair on X. As mentioned prior, Pocketpair’s initial teaser said it would come out in summer, but the developer has clarified that this was a mistake. On the Palworld_EN Twitter account, the developer posted that ‘In the arena teaser, it stated that the arena would release in “summer 2024,”… This was a mistake and should have stated “2024”‘. You can find the message embedded below. The message states that there will be a large update coming to the game in the summer, but it is now unlikely to include the PVP arena.

There’s no specified new timeframe for when the update will come out, but the devs are insisting it will happen before the end of the year and they are working hard to deliver it as soon as possible. This, in my view, can’t happen soon enough. With the player base starting to decline and Palworld currently finding itself out of the top 10 games on Steam, there is a real sense that time is of the essence here.

While the lack of a commitment to a summer PVP release may be disappointing, the good news is that there wil be a ‘major update. You can find out exactly what’s included in our guide to the Palworld summer update, but the main features include new weapons and Pals.

There is still no word yet as to whether the game will come to PlayStation consoles, although we think this is highly unlikely.
