The Helldivers 2 community has been on a roll recently when it comes to completing Major Orders, having taken down the Automatons in the Andromeda Sector by cutting off the supply lines. As the robots have been severely weakened, it will be interesting to see whether Super Earth continues the assault or chooses to focus on the Terminids. But for now, it is time to have some fun as players are encouraged to serve some Liber-tea from the comfort of a Mech.

Two robots stand in a rugged, desert-like setting. One faces a blazing fire near a tent with a flag, while the other observes. The screen displays mission objectives: "Eliminate Dreadnator." This scene appears straight out of Helldivers 2.

Miitchimus, a Helldivers 2 Community Manager, took to Discord to announce that the latest Major Order was a success, with just minutes to spare. But, as a reward players will be able to use the recently released Emancipator Exosuit Mech for free saying,

“With less than 1% of the total time allotted for the Major Order remaining – 43 minutes out of a 72h total – the Helldivers managed to wrestle control back of Choepessa IV from the socialist Automatons!

This display of determination and grit goes to show that one should never discount the efficiency and valor of Helldivers when Lady Liberty comes calling. Being “cooked” is something reserved exclusively to toasters in napalm or bugs at the business end of a FLAM-40 Flamethrower.

As a reward for this show of battlefield fierceness, Super Earth High Command has temporarily granted the free use of the EXO-49 Emancipator Exosuit. Well fought Helldivers. Well fought!”

Some players believe this is Arrowhead Game Studios’ way of testing out the servers, with more Mechs being able to be spawned before committing to the change in an update. Players took to Reddit to share their thoughts on being able to use multiple Mechs at once, with u/Cmonbennett saying “We had a ton of fun spamming the mechs. This kind of stuff is great.”

U/Raidertck also suggested that “Free stratagems should rotate CONSTANTLY. They promote much more weapon and load out diversity,” before going to say that they “still think the mechs are great to be in, they just feel so lacking in ammo and insanely fragile. They are brilliant against bots until you cross paths with a tank that can one shot you and takes 70%+ of your ammo to kill.” They then concluded by noting that they’re “not going to use a stratagem slot on a mech that’s not got enough ammo to last one engagement.”

Players have been unable to bring both types of Mechs with them on missions previously, with it being said it is due to the game not being able to handle it. The servers are janky at the best of times so this is plausible.

Now players can as the EXO-45 Patriot is selectable along with the Emancipator Mech. This means that a player can spawn both together, or up to eight as a full squad. If the servers handle the increased Mech spawns then it is likely that we will see this change be made permanent in a future update once the developers return from summer vacation.

The latest two Major Orders have seen Super Earth decimate the Automatons in the Andromeda Sector. With the announcement mentioning “Being “cooked” is something reserved exclusively to toasters in napalm or bugs at the business end of a FLAM-40 Flamethrower,” it does seem to hint that we could be returning to the Terminid planets to give players a break from fighting robots. The next Major Order will likely go live later today or on Tuesday. Until then, now is a great time to check out the Mechs if you haven’t already.
