Helldivers 2 has been one of the best games of the year so far for both PlayStation and PC. Although the past week has been rough, the game has established a strong fanbase with the developer consistently responding to fan feedback as well as creations by the community. Recently, the Helldivers 2 CEO has reacted to hilarious PC mods while sharing his desire to one day make a game with official modding support.

In other recent news about the game, the developer has responded to shocking rumors about the beloved Eagle 1, meanwhile, a famous actor has said he would love to star in a movie adaptation of Arrowhead’s multiplayer epic.
Although the past week has been rough with the whole PSN fiasco, the relationship between fans and Arrowhead remains largely healthy. This is because of the openness of the developer along with the fact they respond to fans and community created content. Another recent example of this is the Helldivers 2 CEO responding to PC mods introducing a very colorful collection of iconic characters to the game.
Helldivers 2 CEO wants to make a game with ‘proper modding support’
Arrowhead CEO and Helldivers 2 Creative Director, Pilestedt, has responded to a video using PC mods in the game. The video was shared onto Twitter by user TheRealJTV4K60.
The clip shows Helldivers 2 gameplay with the helldivers replaced by in-game character models of Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story, Masterchief from Halo, and Star Lord from Guardians of the Galaxy. As remarked in the clip, the models are actually very impressive.
However, there’s even more mods beyond just the dream threesome of Star Lord, Buzz Lightyear, and Masterchief. When engaging in combat, rather than aliens, the team is battling terrifying foes that include Lightning McQueen from Disney’s Cars, as well as Skibidi Toilet from Gary’s Mod.
Participating in the video is Toastedshoes who is well known on YouTube for implementing funny mods into serious video games. You can check out their YouTube channel to see awesome videos such as Mortal Kombat replaced with Disney icons, and an entire playthrough of Little Nightmares 2 starring Buzz Lightyear and Woody.

Reacting to the mods, Arrowhead CEO and Helldivers 2 Creative Director, Pilestedt, said, “this is hilarious, I’m impressed by the ability to do these mesh swaps given that the engine has no support for mods”. The Arrowhead CEO acknowledged that “At some point in life I really want to make a game with proper modding support. I do love modding communities as it’s where I got my start as a game dev”.
As stated by the CEO, there is no proper modding support for Helldivers 2, and it won’t get any as it is a Sony published game for PC and console. We would love mods to become more common for console let alone every game on PC, but there’s very few that support mods on console other than Skyrim, Fallout, and Baldur’s Gate 3 when the support patch eventually drops.
