Annihilator Tanks are some of the most fearsome enemies you’ll come up against in Helldivers 2, being capable of quickly decimating an entire squad if you’re not careful. Here’s what you need to know if you need to clear Annihilator Tanks as a Personal Order.
Where to find Annihilator Tank in Helldivers 2
You can find Annihilator Tanks on Automaton planets at difficulties Hard and above. They are easier to find at the Extreme difficulty. Try playing Eradication missions as they task you with killing several Automatons. You’ll eventually stumble into an Annihilator Tank. Remember that these are different from Shredder tanks and are harder to kill. Pinging the enemy will give you a helpful tag identifying which tank you’re dealing with.
How to beat Annihilator Tanks
Annihilator Tanks pack a light machine gun as well as an artillery cannon compared to two machine guns on the Shredders. This makes them a serious threat to your lifespan as a Helldiver. Use strong weapons that deal with heavy armour, such as the EAT-17 or Anti-tank Mines. You can also use orbital stratagems to rain down on them, such as the 500kg Bomb, Orbital Laser, or the Walking Barrage. Lastly, you can use the Thermite grenade, which has been buffed to become a real anti-tank threat.
More tips to make use of:
- Always use cover: If you’re too far away from the tank, then make use of any cover you can find. Otherwise, its firepower will shred you to pieces before you can deal with it.
- Climb on the tank: Conversely, if you’re too close to the Annihilator, then you should climb on top of it. This will not only provide some safety from it, but will let you attack it’s hatches. Moreover, it’s far easier to stick Thermites on it from the top.
- Aim for the tank’s rear weak spot: While the rear vent isn’t exactly a weak spot that other enemies like Hulks might have, large explosives can do solid damage to the Annihilator Tank here. Focus on strong weapons like the Railgun, Anti-Material Rifle, Autocannon, and the apt EAT-17 Expendable Anti-Tank to finish the job. However, your Liberator’s bullets will harmlessly ping the hulking opponent.
- A turret can confuse the tank: Players have reported that dropping a turret stratagem like the Gatling Sentry can confuse the tank. This makes it spin its cannon in circles, giving you a nice opening to destroy it. It can still be challenging as the Annihilator Tank has an absurd amount of health.
Make sure that your loadout is ready to tackle an armoured behemoth like the Annihilator Tank. Also, make sure that your ship has enough module upgrades before setting off.
