Dragon’s Dogma 2 is an incredible experience, but sadly, it has been plagued by performance issues at launch along with some truly bizarre design choices from Capcom. Fortunately, in response to all of the complaints online, Capcom has outlined a Dragon’s Dogma 2 roadmap of crucial updates planned for PC, PS5, and Xbox systems.
The open world of Dragon’s Dogma 2 is absolutely huge, and there’s an overabundance of nuanced and complicated systems in the game. You must be wary of your pawns suffering Dragonsplague, and you also must know how to increase your weight limit as there are no stallions to ride around the open world away from oxcarts. And, when traversing the open world with your fellowship, you will encounter a huge list of random bosses from trolls and cyborgs to dragons and giant birds that won’t leave you the hell alone.
It has an incredible open world that truly feels alive and chaotic with giant monsters randomly storming out of the woods to attack you and your merry men. Again, it’s a great game, but it’s suffering from many issues at launch. Fortunately, updates for all systems are planned as outlined in Capcom’s roadmap.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 roadmap
Below is Capcom’s Dragon’s Dogma 2 roadmap of planned updates for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S shared on the DragonsDogma Twitter account:
Update for all platforms (PS5, Xbox, Steam):
- Adding the option to start a new game when save data already exists
- Changing the number of “Art of Metamorphosis” items available at pawn guilds to 99
- Making the quest that allows players to acquire their own dwelling (where they can save and rest) available earlier in the game
- Miscellaneous text display fixes
- Miscellaneous bug fixes
Updates for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S:
- Adding the option to switch motion blur on/off in options
- Adding the option to switch ray tracing on/off in options
- Adding the option to set frame rate to either variable or 30 FPS max in options
- These options will not improve frame rate significantly. Frame rate improvements are planned for future updates.
Updates for Steam:
- Improving quality when DLSS Super Resolution is enabled
- Fixing an issue where models appeared low-quality under some specific settings
This is a good roadmap of planned updates for the game. Although there are ways you can try to fix low FPS and stuttering yourself on PC, Capcom must fix the game’s performance as that’s one of the biggest issues at launch.
Another imperative update listed above is the ability to start a new game when save data already exists. Hopefully, this means we will actually be able to have multiple save files and characters rather than just the ability to start a new game from the main menu at the expense of previous data.
On console, it is relatively easy to delete saves in the PS5 and Xbox system settings, but deleting saves on PC is a lot more complicated. Fans have also warned about Denuvo bricking the game on Steam if you delete your save too many times.
