Will The Finals be on PS4 and Xbox One

No, The Finals will not be released on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The Finals is only available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The developers have been adamant about this and we shouldn’t expect to see it suddenly available on last-generation consoles.

This makes sense because The Finals is a stunning title, both in the visuals and performance departments. With ray tracing across environments packed with ziplines, moving platforms, and other modes of traversal, it makes sense that The Finals isn’t on last-gen consoles. A range of dynamic tools like canisters of gas and explosive material mean that destruction is a de-facto part of any match. I wouldn’t expect the aging Xbox One and PlayStation 4 to compete with their successors.

✓ Jack’s Opinion

Will The Finals ever be on last gen?

No. We don’t think it’s likely to see The Finals release on PS4 or Xbox One. The game was designed and made with PS5 and Series X in mind, which means this is firmly a current-gen game.

Is it worth upgrading from a PS4 or Xbox One for The Finals

Generally speaking, we wouldn’t recommend upgrading just for The Finals. The game is available on PC and you can probably run it that way. More importantly, The Finals is a free-to-play game, which means there’s a slight lack of substance and you will be waiting each season for new content.

That covers The Finals on Xbox One and PS4. To learn more about the game, make sure you read our guides covering how to use your reserve loadout and how to fix the black screen on launch error. The Finals does have crossplay and cross progression but only for the platforms it’s been released on.

After an open beta, The Finals was released last year at The Game Awards to lots of hype. ‘The Finals isn’t another battle royale, military sim, or tactical FPS – there are plenty of those out there. It’s an entirely new take on shooters’ said Gustav Tilleby, creative director at Embark Studios. With Season 1 in full swing, check out its destructible environments as you face opponents and deposit cash to win.

The Finals PS4 and Xbox One FAQs

Is The Finals a next-gen game?

Yes. The Finals currently falls under the term of being a next-gen game since it is developed for PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Will The Finals come to last gen eventually?

No. We wouldn’t expect this to happen at all since it is out on PS5 and Xbox Series X. For the developers to downgrade it for last-gen consoles would be almost unheard of.
