Now you’ve botted up The Finals for the first time, you might wonder if the game has an aim assist. This feature is often a point of contention in FPS games, with many saying it ruins the experience.

Aim assist is exactly what it sounds like; while aiming down sights with your weapon you will get a little helping hand towards your aiming where your reticle will somewhat track the enemy you’re aiming at making it easier to hit them.

The Finals aim assist

The Finals does feature an aim assist mechanic. While this might be a point of contention for people, aim assist was added to the game in the hopes of promoting crossplay equality between those playing together on console and PC.

This common mechanic is often criticised since it makes it much easier for you to shoot enemies and hurt them since you don’t need to be 100% accurate. With that said, the aim assist is fairly low, and you will still need some skill to land those shots.

Aim assist only kicks in at a certain range, so it’s not like you’ll be able to magnetise your bullets to enemies while they are on the other side of the map. This feature helps you land shots easier, and it is mostly there to help reduce the stress of those of you playing on console coming up against someone using a mouse and keyboard.

Thanks for the assist

Aim assist does undoubltedly help you shoot your enemies better when using a controller. But in a lobby where everyone is using a controller, this is entirely equal. The problem arises when you run into those on PC who are mouse and keyboard professionals, not only with an advantage in sensitivity but their aiming is much more accurate.

The Finals aim assist FAQs

Can you turn off aim assist?

No. This setting is turned on by default and you cannot change the setting to turn it off. It is, however, only on consoles and not on the PC version.

How much aim assist is there?

Not a lot! It is fairly unintrusive, which is always welcome. If we had to compare it, we’d say it is less prominent than the aim assist in Apex Legends.
