Before you can take this quest on, you’ll have to get through the game’s four main dungeons first. Tears of the Kingdom Secret of the Ring Ruins quest walkthrough

Before you can begin this quest, you first need to have progressed the main story to a certain point. This involves completing the Regional Phenomena and Crisis at Hyrule Castle quests. There will be spoilers ahead, so if you haven’t completed all of these dungeons yet, stop reading here if you don’t want any spoilers.

Once the aforementioned main quests are complete, head back to Lookout Landing and talk to Purah. Here, a cutscene will play where you will discover the existence of a fifth sage, in addition to those you received from beating the dungeons. While you don’t have anything to go on yet, she suggests heading to Kakariko Village to investigate the Ring Ruins.

In Kakariko Village, head over to where the floating ring ruin is and talk to Tauro and Paya. They will mention that Zelda said that the floating ruin was to be left alone, but that since Zelda was an impostor, they should investigate it. Climb up the scaffolding and use the Tears of the Kingdom Ascend ability to climb inside the ruin.

You’ll find a stone slab inside, similar to the ones found in the other ruins. Take a photograph with your Purah Pad camera and return to Tauro and Paya. Show them the picture of the stone slab, and they’ll immediately set out preparing an expedition to West Necluda.

Head to the Popla Foothills Skyview Tower, where you’ll find Calip’s campfire. Talk to him, and he will point you towards Tauro who has entered some ruins at the Dracozu Lake to the southeast. Inside, talk to Tauro and he will mention a riddle he’s found, before noting that the ruin contains a chest he can’t open. Open it yourself to receive the Charged Shirt. Talk to him again while wearing it, and he’ll note that there may be more pieces of the armour set nearby.

The riddle details a “wide-mouthed forest serpent” which refers to the Dracozu River. You’ll need to follow the river downstream and enter a couple more ruins to find the rest of the pieces of the set. Keep a lookout for a white light shining out of a gap in the walls with large dragon heads sticking straight up.

The first set of ruins is blocked off by some rocks. Break these with bombs or a hammer to get inside and open the chest you find to receive the Charged Trousers. Continue on to another set of ruins where you’ll need to clear some vines with a sword or some fire. Open the chest in here to find the Charged Headdress.

With all of the armor pieces, head to the river’s ‘tail’, where you’ll find another ruin. Enter here and climb up to the altar at the back of the room. Equip all of the pieces of the charged armor set and place a Zonai Charge in the altar you find here. A cutscene will play in which lightning strikes dragon statues around the river, clearing the storm from the skies above you, allowing you to reach the Thunderhead Isles, and access to a set of new sky islands.
