With its latest update, Sons Of The Forest introduces the Hang Glider, a nifty way to cover long distances quickly. It’s a much more time-efficient way to explore the mysteries and horrors hidden across the island than sprinting across craggy cliffs and a sea of endless conifers.
To give you a hand tracking down this latest addition to Sons Of The Forest, we’ve penned this guide detailing locations and how to use the Hang Glider.

How to Get the Hang Glider in Sons Of The Forest – Hang Glider Locations
Like other items and gear in Sons Of The Forest, the Hang Glider is available in several locations across the island. As the Glider requires height, they tend to be found on cliffs, mountains, and ridges. Though you’ll come across one sooner or later as you explore, but this can take time and it’s never fun leaving it down to sheer luck. To help, here are the Hang Glider locations we’ve tracked down so far:
Hang Glider Location 1 – Sons Of The Forest
The Hang Glider is near a cliff northwest of the central snowy mountain range. It’s east of the maintenance key card dig site, sandwiched between two small lakes. The Glider is sitting next to a small pond and an abandoned campsite.
Hang Glider Location 2
The Hang Glider is sitting on a sheer drop overlooking the sea at the northeastern tip of the map. It’s just north of the shotgun dig site.
Hang Glider Location 3 – Sons Of The Forest
The Hang Glider is on a cliff overlooking the sea in the northeast portion of the map. A good way to find the Glider is to head to the shotgun dig site, then head south, hugging the coast.
Hang Glider Location 4
The Glider is on a cliff overlooking a lake west of the forest crash site and the cave with the rope gun. It’s in the central part of the map to the east of the central mountain range.
Hang Glider Location 5 – Sons Of The Forest
This Hang Glider is found in the west-central part of the central mountain range, just before the snow area meets the forest. Look out for a small abandoned campsite with two red tents. The Glider is on the cliff nearby. It’s east of the fourth glider location, east of the forest crash site, and south of the shovel cave.
Hang Glider Location 6
The Glider is in the southern part of the central snowy mountain range. It’s near a small abandoned camp and a short walk northeast up the mountain from the southernmost mountain ice cave entrance.

How to Use the Hang Glider in Sons Of The Forest
To use the Hang Glider in Sons Of The Forest, approach the Glider and tap the E button. With the Glider in your hands, run and jump off a cliff, hill, or mountain (basically any elevated part of the environment that offers a decent amount of height). After a few seconds in freefall, the Hang Glider should deploy, and you’ll take flight.
Once in the air, pressing W will push you downwards and boost your speed, though you’ll lose altitude. Pressing S slows down the Glider and allows you to gain height. Abusing S will slow the glider down and if you lose enough speed, you’ll automatically head downwards. The A and D keys move you left and right, respectively.
All that’s needed to land is to aim the Glider at the ground and drift down. Your character automatically dismounts and unequips the Glider when you’re close enough. Watch out for obstructions like trees and cliffs, as these could mean unequipping the Glider too early and a lethal fall to the ground below.
Hang Glider Tips
A few things to note about Hang Gliders. Like logs and other large items, Hang Gliders can’t be stowed away in your backpack inventory for use later on – you can only carry them or leave them on the ground.
If you use one, note down the location of where you left it; otherwise, you’ll likely have a tough old time tracking it down again. If you’ve got a spare GPS Locator, it’s worth plopping one down near a Hang Glider to keep tabs on its location.
