How do you tame Virginia in Sons Of The Forest?

Possibly one of the most unsettling early-game encounters in Sons Of The Forest is when a leotard-clad woman with three legs and arms starts regularly visiting your camp. Those that have played long enough know she means no harm and, on the contrary, can turn into an ally. And, one critical to keeping cannibals at bay. She’s a deft shot, capitalizing on those extra limbs to tote two guns, and will even drop off the occasional gift.

The attentive among you may have noticed that the three-legged woman resembles the young woman in one of the files on the laptop you can look through during the game’s introduction. This is more than a coincidence; she is, in fact, Virginia Puffton, daughter of billionaire Edward Puffton, and one of the missing persons you’re tasked with finding in Sons Of The Forest.

But how do you tame and get Virginia as a companion in Sons Of The Forest? In this guide, we outline the steps required to befriend the mysterious woman.

Before we begin, a word of warning. Under no circumstances should you attack or try to frighten Virginia. A prancing, three-legged woman would give anyone the creeps, and we wouldn’t blame you for wanting to bludgeon her to death. Resist the urge; otherwise, you’ll destroy any chance of getting her as an ally.

Sons Of The Forest - Virginia dancing

Patience and a pacifist approach are key to befriending Virginia in Sons Of The Forest. Whenever she visits, unequip any weapons you have out and give her a wide berth. Let her observe you from afar, and don’t try to get near, threaten, or run towards her.

If anything, ignore her and avoid moving in her direction at all. She’s extremely jumpy. She’ll dart if she gets even a whiff of a threat. She’ll come and go a few times. After several initial visits, her confidence grows, and she’ll get nearer, occasionally taking a seat to observe you and even performing a little ballet routine. When you see the dance, you’re on the right track. Another telltale sign is that she bends down to eat what appears to be a dead animal.

Let her do her thing a bit longer, and she’ll eventually give you a gift. At this point, Virginia is considered tamed in Sons Of The Forest. As a companion, Virginia behaves very differently from Kelvin. She can’t take direct commands, but you can equip her with weapons and gear. She becomes very protective of you and will help you fend off cannibal assaults.
