To craft the arrows needed to hunt for food and fend off the cannibals in Sons Of The Forest, you’ll need feathers. While trying to track and bludgeon a bird out of the air may seem like the most obvious option, you’ll struggle to get a steady supply of feathers that way.
In this guide, we’ll explain how to get feathers in Sons Of The Forest.

How to Get Feathers in Sons Of The Forest
To get feathers in Sons Of The Forest, you’ll need to make a Bird House. To build a Bird House:
- Open up the Guide Book in your inventory.
- Hold the X button to switch modes, then hover over the teal Utility tab.
- Flip to the Bird House page and left-click on the Bird House picture to bring up an outline of the structure.
You can place a Bird House on the side of any constructed wall. Choose a spot and left-click. You’ll then need to gather 18 sticks and tap the E button repeatedly to place all the sticks on the outline to construct the house.
Once built, the Bird House will regularly attract birds who’ll deposit feathers. To gather the feathers in Sons Of The Forest, approach the Bird House and tap the E button. You’ll get at least one feather per visit, with a larger haul building up over time.
You can craft stone arrows with feathers, which require x2 feathers, x2 sticks, and x4 small rocks. Place all the ingredients in the crafting area at the center of your inventory and combine them to make four stone arrows.
Get Feathers By Killing Birds
If the above feels like too much work, you can always revert to simply killing birds. The best approach is to wait for them to land, then either use a spear or bow to take them down. Gather up the feathers than float to the ground near the dead bird.
Another good tip is to visit the beach where you’ll find a glut of seagulls strutting around near the shore. They are easier to kill than the smaller, standard variety birds found in the forest as their larger frames make for a larger target. They are also less skittish and likely to fly away, giving you more time to take them down.
