Sons of the Forest – How to Find the 3D Printer

In Sons Of The Forest, the 3D printer comes in handy for making several key items, notably the flask, to save you from having to periodically pencil in a visit to a river to quench your thirst. As with many things in Sons Of The Forest, you’re left to your own devices to figure things out, including where to find the 3D printer.

Where to Find the 3D Printer in Sons Of The Forest

You’ll track down the 3D printer by going to the marker represented by a green and white ping on your GPS Tracker as soon as you start a new game. The marker is located to the east of the central snowy mountain range and west of the cave containing the Rope Gun. It’s a short stroll from the forest crash site (a little further if you got the snow or beach sites), so finding it shouldn’t take long.

Look out for an abandoned golf cart covered in vines. Next to the cart is a cave entrance. Squeeze in and fire up your lighter by tapping L. Follow the path until the cave wall turns to a man-made corridor that resembles a bunker or top-secret underground facility. You’ll see a dimly lit room ahead. The 3D printer is on a desk at the back of the room.

How to Use the 3D Printer in Sons Of The Forest

To work, the 3D printer in Sons Of The Forest requires resin. The printer is loaded with 850 ml, so you don’t have to worry about topping it up for your first couple of prints. If you need more, you’ll find 1600 ml of 3D printing resin scattered around the room, along with arrows and other bits of gear.

To use the 3D printer in Sons Of The Forest:

1. Walk up to the laptop to the right of the printer.
2. Tap R to cycle through the different print options.
3. Once the item you want to print is on the screen, hold down E to start the printing process.

Unlike in the real world, the Sons Of The Forest printer takes no more than 20 seconds to produce an item. Aim at the item and tap E to take it off the printer.
