How do you make a door in Sons Of The Forest? Though not strictly necessary to complete the game, building a base of operations decked out with a shelter, resource racks, traps, and protective contraptions gets those creative juices flowing and is, quite simply, a lot of fun.

Though the Sons Of The Forest building mechanics are designed with simplicity in mind, it’s not always clear how to construct specific structures, including doors. In this guide, we’ll outline how to make a door in Sons of The Forest.

If you equip the Guide Book in the inventory and navigate to the brown building tab, then cycle through to the Door page, you’ll see pictures detailing step-by-step instructions to build a door. Once you’ve made your first door, the process is easy to replicate.

How to Make a Door in Sons Of The Forest

To make a door in Sons Of The Forest, start by stacking logs to make a wall. Once that’s done, equip the axe. Aim it at the wall, and you’ll see a rectangle outlined in red appear on the log you’re targeting.

Left-click to chop a vertical gap in the wall, roughly the width of a door. Repeat for each log of the wall to create a door frame.

Next, gather two logs and use the axe to split them in two vertically. Pick up the split logs and approach the door frame, and you’ll see a white arrow pointing upwards. Left-click to place the split log. Repeat three times to complete the door. There’s no need for hinges or any additional materials or building.

To open the door, simply walk through it.
