Want to know how to hip check in NHL 24? NHL 24 has seen the introduction of loads of brand-new features to improve this year’s game.

Enhancements have been introduced across the board and there truly is no better time to be getting stuck into the new release.

Plenty of us were playing the game early thanks to NHL 24 early access. This allowed us to piece together our NHL 24 review ahead of the full NHL 24 release date.

Whilst attacking the opposition and scoring goals in the name of the game, it will be equally important to master your defensive capabilities in NHL 24.

With that in mind, here are our top tips to help you successfully hip check or body check your opponents in this year’s game.

How to hip check in NHL 24

NHL 24 is a perfect game to let you release some frustration, as you can literally send your opponents flying on a regular basis.

With new innovations seen via the introduction of the Frostbite engine, bashing your opponent into next week has never looked better.

However, this rough-and-tumble approach is also a key part of the defensive side of hockey, with body checks helping to slow down opposition attacks and help you retrieve possession of the puck.

To do a hip/body check in NHL 24 you’ll need to use the defensive skill stick.

On both Xbox and PlayStation, this is the right stick on your controller. When looking to body check, you’ll first need to skate towards your target and hold the right stick up.

A body check isn’t the only type of hit you can perform, with hip checks also being another type of aggressive action that can stop the opposition in their tracks.

To perform a hip check in NHL 24:

While holding L1 on PlayStation or LB on Xbox, click right stick at the same time as skating in the direction of the opposing player.

Be mindful of chasing around your opponents too much as you will get dragged out of position and may end up hindering more than helping.

Either way, with any of these basic skills, we’d recommend heading into the free skate mode in NHL 24 to master the technique before trying it out in a real game.
