By switching it on, the owner of your team will always authorize your initial attempt to relocate the franchise you’re playing with. Once you do so, you will then have the option to negotiate with the new city you want to move to before fulfilling the relocation of your franchise. Once you transition to your new city location, you will be able to customize everything from scratch besides the city name itself naturally.
If you decide not to do the Authentic NHL Franchise Mode experience, you can also opt for the Custom League mode that was new in NHL 23, or the 33 Team Expansion Draft option. Should you want to cut right to the chase and begin your journey in a brand new city as soon as you set up your Franchise Mode experience, using the Custom League and 33 Team Expansion Draft modes allow you to fulfill just that. As soon as you select one or the other, you will have the opportunity to customize a team or full league completely from the ground up, which includes picking the city you want to play in and represent.
