As with most story encounters in Marvel’s Midnight Suns, the fight against Fallen Venom with Spider-Man at your side is a two-stage affair. We’ll break down each stage and walk you through its main objectives.

As you begin the Spidermaaans story mission and group up with Spider-Man, a battle with hydra units serves as a warm-up for the confrontation with Venom. The boss himself does not appear in person at this stage of the fight, instead periodically throwing projectiles that deal huge damage. Stay out of the highlighted danger reticles and maneuver enemies into them wherever possible for some easy damage.

There are two civilians trapped under rubble in this first stage, and they must be rescued before the second stage can begin. Rescue Civilian cards will appear in your hand one at a time, requiring 2 Heroism to use. Balance rescuing civilians and picking off Hydra in the first couple of rounds to complete this objective.

Take out the Hydra support units and minions first. Reinforcements can quickly grant Hydra a numbers advantage if the first stage of this battle takes too long, and the support units will heal and buff their most powerful allies.

It’s recommended to bring along Tony Stark for his incredible crowd control, Nico Minoru for healing and burst damage, Doctor Strange for support, or Captain Marvel to serve as a tank.

Once the Hydra troops have been dispatched and the civilians are safe, the mission will progress to a direct confrontation will Fallen Venom.

Once the battle against Fallen Venom progresses to its second stage, you can focus your efforts more fully on the boss itself. There are no civilians in need of rescue in this stage of the fight, leaving you free to focus on taking down Venom’s impressive health pool.

Each turn, two Hydra reinforcements will rush onto the battlefield. While not much of an issue on their own, these reinforcements can quickly stack up, chipping away at your party health and splitting your focus from Venom.

Wherever possible it’s best to take out the reinforcements as quickly as you can. This task is made easier by them being one-hit minions, allowing you to pick them off quickly whenever Spider-Man draws a Chain Strike. Environmental attacks – and even AOEs from Venom that don’t discern friend from foe – can also be used to take out the Hydra agents without spending too many of your precious actions each turn.

Spider-Man’s stuns can be useful in negating some of Fallen Venom’s more dangerous attacks, allowing you to deal a lot of damage with the Hunter and your choice of third hero.

Don’t expect the battle to be over once you deplete Fallen Venom’s health, however. Once his health hits zero, Fallen Venom will regenerate right back to full, forcing you to drop him one more time to finish this battle.

Specing the hunter into light-based healing works wonders for enduring Fallen Venom’s attacks, as this battle is likely to last longer than anything you’ve encountered in Midnight Suns so far. Keep it up and eventually, you’ll be able to add Spider-Man to the Midnight Suns roster.
