Midnight Suns: S – Tier
The Hunter
Midnight Suns’ playable character is the stalwart backbone of the campaign, making a required appearance in every main mission. While this may initially take away from the flexibility of your squad choice, The Hunter more than makes up for it by being the most customizable hero in the game by far. The Hunter’s abundance of light and dark powers allow you to tailor their kit to your exact specifications, but they are particularly effective as a light-based healer, keeping the rest of the team alive long after they would have fallen. The Hunter is an indispensable presence in any Midnight Suns mission.
Midnight Suns: A – Tier
Nico Minoru
While Nico’s luck-based roulette abilities may not make her the most consistent character around, her support capabilities and incredible damage potential make it well worth the risk. And gamble or no, Nico thrives as a support option, generating heroism and supporting the team, with incredible damage as a frequent payoff. Witchfire is a particular standout, capable of clearing out a whole host of enemies with proper set-up
Iron Man
As befitting his showboating personality, Tony’s cards center his own performance over supporting his teammates. But when they’re this good, who can argue? Iron Man eats up both redraws and heroism to fuel his most powerful attacks, but few other Midnight Suns heroes are as effective at keeping an entire field under control, easily picking off minions and stronger foes alike.
Doctor Strange
The good Doctor is an ever-reliable support option who can dish out some impressive damage of his own. Doctor Strange’s card options are varied, allowing for crowd control and stunning, but he really shines in generating heroism and boosting the team’s capabilities.
Doctor Strange’s abilities can be excellent fuel for his allies’ fire, but his own damaging moves are no slouch either. This is a hero that fits in handily with almost any Midnight Suns team.
Spider-Man
A hugely versatile hero, there isn’t much that Spider-man can’t do in Marvel’s Midnight Suns. Crowd control is his forte, with chain attacks that are truly excellent for dealing with minions, and excellent stunning capabilities as well. And Spider-man’s boost to environmental attacks allows you to get the most use out of your Heroism and keep the field clear of reinforcements.
That being said, it’s best to bring at least one high-damage hero along in a team with Spider-man, as he doesn’t have many options for dealing large single-target damage.
Captain Marvel
Carol Danvers is perhaps Midnight Suns’ strongest best tank option and is absolutely worth building a team layout around. Survivability, taunting, and damage are all baked into her toolkit, allowing her to keep the team alive and burn through enemy health in a second with the right setup.
Go Binary turns Captain Marvel into a true standout, dealing colossal damage and taking hefty hits without dropping. Supportive team members who can draw fire when needed and keep Binary Mode active are a plus. When in the rhythm of drawing fire, keeping Binary Mode active, and taking big swings at foes, Captain marvel feels practically unstoppable.

Midnight Suns: B – Tier
Ghost Rider
High-risk, high reward is Ghost Rider’s game plan. His abilities can be exceptionally powerful, but often deal self-damage as a trade-off. Additionally, several of Robbie’s skills create Drops, hell-portals that have a chance of insta-killing enemies knocked into them.
Success is never wholly guaranteed when using Ghost Rider, and often comes at great cost to Robbie himself. But when the character clicks, he really clicks, often capable of clearing the field with just a little set-up from support-based allies.
Blade
The Daywalker is a character that requires some set-up to achieve his full potential but becomes near unstoppable once the effort is put in.
Blade is slightly hampered by his abilities only coming into their own once bleed has been properly triggered, requiring a few card plays to really activate. But with incredible single target burst damage and DOT, in tandem with a powerful self-heal, Blade can take huge chunks out of boss health and pick off powerful units with equal ease.
Scarlet Witch
Wanda arrives as a playable character fairly late into Midnight Suns, but not late enough that she can’t make an impact. Her chaotic AOE abilities like Hex Field are some of Midnight Suns’ best crowd-control cards, dealing huge damage and synergizing well with her other options.
Wanda’s ability selection is somewhat narrow, focusing heavily on damage to the detriment of many support options, but she remains a powerhouse character that can be a centerpiece of many potential teams.
Magik
Magik’s abilities have the least focus on direct damage out of any member of the Midnight Suns. But that doesn’t make her a passive support character. So much of Midnight Suns’ combat revolves around clever positioning, and Magik’s portal-hopping, enemy-pushing cards fit that better than any other character.
Magik is a tricky, not always straightforward character. But she can make excellent use of the environment, deal a decent amount of collision damage, and set foes up for area effects better than anyone else on the team.
Midnight Suns: C – Tier
Captain America
Perhaps Midnight Suns’ most defense-focused character, Captain America shines went taunting foes and mitigating damage to his teammates. But the drawback is that Cap lacks many potent offensive options in return, often slowing down the team’s damage output and causing missions to drag on, which can be bad news given the constant waves of reinforcements.
Captain America isn’t necessarily a bad option in Midnight Suns, but there are other tank options that balance offense and defense more evenly.
Wolverine
While the pieces of Wolverine’s toolkit are exciting in isolation, unfortunately, they don’t come together as cleanly as X-Men fans might have been hoping.
Wolverine simply attracts too much attention, without the defensive properties of better tanks to back him up. And with his self-heal being more finicky than other heroes, Wolverine occupies an awkward spot between dealing damage and drawing focus, and not quite excelling in either.
Rapid Regeneration provides a significant boost to his survivability but drains Heroism and can’t be relied on consistently enough to offset his other issues.
Hulk
Hulk’s ranking has less to do with his performance and more with how late in the campaign he finally becomes playable. Hulk simply arrives too late in the game to have much impact on your Midnight Suns team. He certainly lives up to his reputation as an absolute powerhouse, but by the time Bruce is finally recruited, you likely know your team comps inside out, and the green goliath is only going to throw a spanner in the works. That being said, Hulk is at least a reliable option for late-game missions, even with his starting deck.
