Marvel’s Midnight Suns, Firaxis Games’ underrated superhero-themed strategy creation, is finally being released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One systems on May 11, 2023. Unfortunately, Nintendo fans will be disappointed to know that the Switch port has been cancelled as the developers have stated that the handheld version is “no longer planned.”
According to the official developer blog post, the release date provided apparently coincides with the release of the fourth post-launch DLC entitled Blood Storm. This latest expansion will allow you to recruit Storm into your team and it also introduces a handful of new missions that continues the vampyre storyline. Once you’ve completed all DLC story missions including those for Deadpool, Venom, and Morbius, you’ll then be able to join “a final showdown against an age-old monster of myth.”
If you’re a previous gen console player, you’ll be able to experience the entire plot along with all four expansions by either purchasing the Legendary Edition or the Season Pass. Each DLC adds one of the four aforementioned heroes so this is additional content that you won’t want to miss.
Unfortunately, this will be the last expansion in the ongoing vampyre storyline so there may not be any new content released in the near future. It’s also currently unclear whether Firaxis Games and 2K are preparing on adding more characters or missions soon as they are yet to reveal their long-term plans for Marvel’s Midnight Suns.
With that said, it seems unlikely that the game will get new pieces of DLC since Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick had previously revealed that it was a commercial flop. Because of this, they may decide to cut their losses while it’s still early and focus their resources instead on other upcoming projects like the highly anticipated GTA 6 installment.
