Some of the best playmakers you will have on offense, will be that of your wide receivers. While running backs can bustle their way through and tight ends offer more physicality, wide receiver are altogether different. From the athleticism, speed, route-running, and catching ability these talents provide, the wide receiver position is one of the most important in football, and is something fans can experience firsthand in Madden as well.
Roughly a year ago, Davante Adams was the best WR in Madden 23 with a 99 overall rating at launch. Although Adams did end up leading the NFL in receiving touchdowns over the 2022 regular season with 14, a new WR star is in line to take his number one overall spot this year.
Madden 23 was home to 12 90+ overall rated players at launch, and so will Madden 24 once again this year. We breakdown five of the Top 20 WRs you will be able to play with in Madden 24 down below as ranked by EA Sports.
Justin Jefferson – 99 overall
It makes perfect sense that Justin Jefferson is a 99 overall and the best-rated wide receiver in the game. He is that good, and there’s no aspect of the game he’s weak in. He’s fast, runs routes well, and is big enough to outleap defenders. If a ball is in the air, there’s a good chance it’s falling into his hands. Even though he’s injured now, he was playing more than well enough to justify his rating and stay that high.
Tyreek Hill – 99 overall
Tyreek Hill did not begin the season as a 99 in Madden 24. He played so well that they were forced to bump him up enough to join the exclusive club. The wide receiver has played better than anyone else in the NFL. He’s on pace to set records and there is not a defense out there that can contain him. The Madden NFL rating finally accurately reflects that fact.
Davante Adams – 97 overall
Despite pretty awful quarterback play from Jimmy Garoppolo, Aidan O’Connell, and Brian Hoyer, Davante Adams continues to prove that he is one of the best in the entire game. He catches everything thrown his way. He’s a big-bodied receiver, but he’s also agile enough to run routes really well and create space. Once again, there’s truly no weakness in his game and his Madden rating could get even higher if he produces the rest of the way. Regardless, a 97 is an incredibly good overall.
Cooper Kupp – 96 overall
The Los Angeles Rams wide receiver began the season injured. There was a hamstring issue that prevented him from playing for a while, so what did he do upon his return? Cooper Kupp reminded everyone why his Madden rating was so high to begin with. There is hardly a pass-catcher in the NFL that runs routes better and has better hands. He’s not physically imposing either with speed or size, but it doesn’t matter. He still puts up incredible numbers, and Madden knows that he’s one of the most unstoppable forces out there.
AJ Brown – 94 overall
The Philadelphia Eagles have one of the best wide receivers in the entire NFL. The Madden rating reflects that. He began the season as a low 90s player, and has ascended to a top five rating in the game. He is stronger than just about anyone at this position, which makes him an absolute pain to try and tackle. It also means he’s going to be able to outjump cornerbacks and he’s fast enough to outrun them down the field, too.
