The Madden 24 release date came and went, meaning the new Season 1 Field Pass rewards list is now live. In the lead up to early access, Madden revealed its new player ratings, including the 99 club and best quarterbacks, of which Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes features in both. When it comes to rookie ratings, Madden tends to start them all below 80. It’s very difficult to see how they’ll translate to the league and they often struggle in their first season. Only one rookie (Bijan Robinson) came in higher than that mark at the beginning, but now seven rookies have 80+ OVR ratings.

Bijan Robinson – 85 overall

Bijan Robinson turned heads by becoming a running back selected in the top 10 of the draft. So far, he’s proving all the naysayers wrong. The usage isn’t as high as it could be, but he’s doing so much with those opportunities. When he touches the ball, he could score on any play. Even if he doesn’t, it’s a likely highlight reel. Madden knows and they’ve given him the highest rating for a rookie in 2023.

Devon Witherspoon – 83 overall

The Seattle Seahawks used their top selection on Devon Witherspoon, and it has paid nothing but dividends. The rookie corner has already developed a knack for getting the ball and he often shuts down his man. He has shot up the Madden rookie ratings list thanks to it, and would be a strong candidate for Defensive Rookie of the Year if not for Jalen Carter’s great play.

Zay Flowers – 82 overall

The Baltimore Ravens have had a terrible time trying to find a good wide receiver through the draft. They seem to have finally nailed it with Zay Flowers. The rookie wideout is playing extremely well. If not for a drops issue that comes up every now and then, he’d be even higher. As it stands, he is the top-rated rookie wide receiver in a pretty deep class.

Jahmyr Gibbs – 79 overall

Jahmyr Gibbs was a surprising pick so early for the Detroit Lions. What has not been surprising is his talent. Much like Robinson, he doesn’t get as many touches. When he does get the ball, he’s a big play waiting to happen. When David Montgomery was out with injury, he starred and scored his first touchdown of the season. If he continues getting touches, this 79 overall rating will continue to rise.

CJ Stroud – 77 overall

C.J. Stroud came in lower than his rookie counterpart and number one overall pick Bryce Young. All he’s done since is look like he should have been the Carolina Panthers’ selection. He’s been excellent and has turned the Houston Texans around. He has added several points to his overall rating to be a 77 overall at this stage, and he could keep climbing.
