How do you unlock the Dark Crusader in Lords of the Fallen? This starting class is one of the more powerful that you can choose from, making it understandable to unlock later on. Of course, there are some who unlocked it immediately thanks to the Deluxe Edition of the game.

The Dark Crusader class comes with some great starting items and a heavy armor set to prepare you for the harsh world of Mournstead. You may want to upgrade weapons with blacksmith Gerlinde, upgrade the Sanguinarix, and check if you can upgrade armor before embarking on this mission.

Thanks to its stats and starting equipment, the Dark Crusader could be a contender for the best starting class, though you might not get it on your first playthrough. This guide will show you how to unlock the Dark Crusader in Lords of the Fallen.

Sir Isaac’s quest for the Dark Crusader class explained

To begin this quest, pick up the Flayed Skin item. This item is located just past the tutorial boss. After defeating the initial boss and getting done in by the Lightreaper, head to the right to find the Flayed Skin.

Now that you have the Flayed Skin, you need to find all of the Umbral Stigmas linked to Isaac’s quest. These can be found in the following areas:

  • Lower Calrath
  • Fief of the Chill Curse
  • Path of Devotion

The first Umbral Stigma is found near the Depot Vestige in Lower Calrath, where you can find the memory of Isaac kneeling. The second is located near the Fief Vestige, where again, Isaac will be kneeling. The third Umbral Stigma is located near the Nest Vestige. You may have to fight a boss before reaching this one, depending on how you’ve progressed in the game. The final one is located on the start of the Path of Devotion, an area you’ll need to unlock with the Pilgrim’s Perch Key. At the back of the hill a straight shot down the path from the Memorial Vestige, you can find Isaac’s final stigma looking out over the cliff.

After finding all of the Umbral Stigmas, you must fight Isaac in the Path of Devotion. Go into the Umbral Realm and locate him. Soulflay the Stigma in the arena to access the fight. Defeat Isaac to get the Umbral-Tinged Flayed Skin.

The next step of the process is to retrieve Isaac’s gear. Go to the Sepulcher Vestige and use the skin to open the large door. Walk down the stairs to find Paladin Isaac’s Sword, the Paladin Armor Set, and the Paladin’s Pendant/Rosary.

Finally, now that you have seen Isaac’s story, you can summon Isaac during the Lightreaper boss fight.
