Downing a Focus Potion in Hogwarts Legacy can turn the tide of even the toughest fights. As the name implies, the drinker gains focus, reducing the cooldown of spells, which means, as any wizard or witch worth their salt knows, the chance to unleash a continuous stream of damaging spells.
The Focus Potion is all well and good when you’ve got a handful in robe pockets. But you’ll soon run out, so it’s worth learning how to make a Focus Potion in Hogwarts Legacy. In this guide, we’ll share the exact recipe and how to craft the potion.

How to Get the Focus Potion Recipe
First things first, you’ll need to get the recipe. Hop over to Hogsmeade and visit everyone’s favorite potions dealer, J. Pippin’s. The store, aptly named J. Pippin’s Potions, is located in the western part of Hogsmeade, just opposite the West Hogsmeade Floo Flame. The Focus Potion will set you back a hefty 1,200 Galleons. If you’re low on cash, peek at our guide to making money in Hogwarts Legacy.
Once you’ve bought the recipe, open the Field Guide, head to the Collections menu, and select the Tools card on the left. Hover over the Focus Potion to see all the ingredients to brew the concoction. We’ve listed them here for convenience:
- 1 Lacewing Flies
- 1 Fluxweed Stem
- 1 Dugbog Tongue
You can find Lacewing Flies quite readily throughout The Highlands – look out for bushes with what appear to be glowing fireflies hovering about them. Fluxweed Stem can be bought from the Magic Neep or grown in a Potting Station in the Room of Requirement. Finally, Dugbog Tongues are looted from downed Dugbogs found in dens throughout the open world.
How to Make a Focus Potion in Hogwarts Legacy
- Head to the Room of Requirements and interact with a Potions Station.
- Hover over Focus Potion and double-check you’ve got all the required ingredients – green means you have what’s needed; red, you don’t
- Tap the select button, X on PS5 or A on Xbox, to start brewing the potion.
- A Potions Station takes 1 minute to brew a single Focus Potion, so keep yourself busy for 60 seconds, then return to the station and collect the potion.
If you don’t know what the Room of Requirements is or don’t have a Potions Station, it might be worth pushing the story further before attempting to brew your own Focus Potions.
To set up a Potion Station in the Room of Requirements, fire up the Conjuring Spell, select the Potions option, then the Small Potions Station of your choice. Place it, then refer to the instructions above to brew a Focus Potion in Hogwarts Legacy.
