Where to find Troll Bogeys in Hogwarts Legacy

Troll Lair locations

You’ll need to fight and defeat a troll to get bogeys in Hogwarts Legacy. A combo of spells like Incendio, Confringo, and Depulso work well against trolls. When a troll dies, it drops troll bogeys on the ground as loot you can pick up. Trolls spawn randomly throughout The Highlands, notably in the south of the map and around enemy goblin camps, but an easier option for a guaranteed spawn troll is to track down a lair.

Trolls are found at Troll Lairs scattered across The Highlands around Hogwarts. Troll Lairs are represented by a cave icon on the in-game Hogwarts Legacy map. Not all cave-like icons are Troll Lairs though, which can make tracking them down a bit tricky.

Here’s the exact location of three known Troll Lairs fairly close to Hogwarts to save you having to travel too far afield to get the troll bogeys. You’ll see the precise location in the screenshots below. You’ll also find Troll Lairs in the Marunweem Lake and Clagmar Coast regions.

• North of Feldcroft in the eastern part of the map

• East of Feldcroft in the eastern part of the map

• East of the Poidsear Castle Floo Flame along the South Poidsear coast in the southwestern part of the map.

Though big in stature, fighting trolls shouldn’t cause you to much trouble. They are slow and their attacks are well telegraphed, so it’s mainly a case of chipping away at their substantial health bars while avoiding their red critical attacks.

Buy Troll Bogeys at J. Pippins Potions

Alternatively, you can spend your hard-earned Galleons and buy troll bogeys at the J. Pippins Potions vendor in Hogsmeade. Each troll bogey will set you back 100 Galleons. J. Pippins Potions carries a maximum of five troll bogeys. The stock replenishes daily from what we’ve seen, so it may be worth advancing time if you need a particular large haul of bogeys quickly.

You lose out on the pleasure of finding and fighting a troll, but buying troll bogeys ticks off the Professor Onai’s Assignment requirement much faster than hunting down one of the hulking beasts.
