How to consume a corpse in Diablo 4?

To consume a corpse in Diablo 4, use a skill that consumes corpses to trigger effects. As for getting corpses, kill enemies or use the Hewed Flesh passive to gain a chance of damage dropping corpses. Once you have corpses on the battlefield to use, all it takes is the right skill to utilize them.

Diablo 4 unique items like Black River can also help. With this unique scythe, Corpse Explosion consumes up to 4 additional corpses around the first corpse. This deals x122-130% extra damage with a 21-25% larger radius per corpse. This has a range of uses depending on which skill you use. From raising skeletal warriors to turning corpses into little bombs, skills like Skeleton Minion summon, Corpse Explosion, and Corpse Tendrils are essential tools in any Necromancer’s kit. Note that this isn’t available to the other Diablo 4 classes: Rogue, Sorcerer, Barbarian, and Druid.

Diablo 4 consume corpse: A necromancer checks their skill tree and spots the Decompose skill.

Skills that consume a corpse in Diablo 4

Here are all the skills that can make use of corpses and bones in Diablo 4:

  • Decompose: This lets you tear the flesh of an enemy, letting you create corpses even before the enemy dies.
  • Corpse Explosion: Does what it says on the tin.
  • Corpse Tendrils: This sends the veins from a corpse to pull in enemies and stun them. This grisly move can grant your Necromancer some respite from Lilith’s mobs. Note that this does not consume the corpse.
  • Grim Harvest: This lets you consume a corpse to generate Essence, the Necromancer’s primary resource.
  • Hewed Flesh: This grants your attacks a chance to create a Corpse even if you don’t completely kill an enemy.
  • Fueled by Death: Consume a corpse and you deal more damage for the next six seconds. Great for players who create minions or use the above skills.
  • Create Skeletal Minion: Lets you pick between regular warriors, mages, and golems. Each of them have their own types too. For instance, regular warriors can be switched to Skirmishers or Reapers. Using this move after reaching the max number of minions buffs existing minions instead by consuming a corpse.
  • Army of the Dead: This ultimate primarily summons an army of exploding skeletons. But upgrade it to Supreme Army of the Dead and these explosive skeletons now have a chance to drop corpses.

Aspects to consume a corpse in Diablo 4

You can also use a Diablo 4 Aspect like the Aspect of Explosive Mist to consume corpses. This lets the Blood Mist skill trigger Corpse Explosion on surrounding Corpses. And when Blood Mist detonates a Corpse, its Cooldown is reduced too. Cadaverous Aspect increases the damage of your next Core Skill when you consume a corpse.

As for Flesh-Rending Aspect (Nostrava Deepwood – Fractured Peaks), you gain 10 Essence after Decompose spawns a corpse. Another good option is Aspect of Grasping Veins (Corrupted Grotto – Kehjistan). You gain 10-20% increased Critical Strike Chance for 6 seconds when you cast Corpse Tendrils. And then you inflict 30-60% bonus Critical Strike Damage to enemies damaged by Corpse Tendrils.

You can also summon a Golem in Diablo 4 that sheds corpses as it takes damage. That covers how to consume a corpse in Diablo 4. If you’re into necromancy, you’ll love Season of Blood. With fresh Diablo 4 vampire powers, there’s a lot for every class.

Just remember to wear the right Diablo 4 vampiric pact armor. The next season is out this October on PC, PlayStation 5 (PS5), and Xbox Series X|S. Note that Season 2 does away with Diablo 4 Malignant Hearts and brings in refinements across the board. For instance, Diablo 4 renown rewards are now shared across all characters.
