Want to know how to summon a Golem in Diablo 4? The game’s second season is nearly here. Season of Blood promises to fix many issues that have been plaguing the game since its first season.

Here’s more information on Diablo 4 Season 2. We had a lot to talk about in our Diablo 4 review regarding the base game. While many of the mechanics will be familiar to those who have played the series before, there are still a few things to learn. And for newbies to the series, there are a number of mechanics that are worth mastering as soon as you can. One such ability is summoning an undead Golem which can be tricky, but we’ll go through how to do it here.

How to summon the Golem in Diablo 4

The Golem unlocks at ability 25 – so if you’re not at that level, then you won’t be able to summon it. You’ll need to complete the Necromancer Call of the Underworld quest in order to summon Golem skeletons.

It pops up as a priority quest once you’ve hit level 25. The quest marker is found northwest of Menestad in the Fractured Peaks region. The quest takes you to the Shrine of Rathma where you’ll meet Maltorius. He’ll task you with amassing 12 Unbroken Bones from nearby enemies.

After returning the bones, you’re sent back out to find a vile artifact. Enter the cave marked on your map to find the Jar of Souls. Kill enemies to fill up the progress bar and complete the quest, unlocking the golem.

Remember, Golems can also only be summoned if you’re using the Necromancer class, which in our view, is one of the best classes in Diablo 4. There are three types of golems in the game, which we have listed below. Here are the golem types in Diablo 4:

  • Bone Golems – sturdy attackers (unlocked at level 25)
  • Iron Golems – can slam the ground to stun enemies (unlocked at level 32)
  • Blood Golems – can drain life from nearby enemies (unlocked at level 28)

Each of these golems comes in three types in Diablo 4. Sacrificing them grants 10% increased Attack Speed, 10% Maximum Life, and 30% increased Critical Strike Damage respectively. Here are the other golem subtypes in Diablo 4:

  • Bone Golem option 1: Sheds a corpse whenever it takes up to 20% of its Life as damage.
  • Bone Golem option 2: Extra 10% Life and the amount of Thorns they inherit from your Necromancer is increased from 30% to 50%.
  • Blood Golem option 1: Absorbs 15% of damage you would normally take.
  • Blood Golem option 2: Gains 25% Damage Reduction and 50% increased damage while Healthy.
  • Iron Golem option 1: Every 5th Iron Golem attack causes a shockwave that hits enemies.
  • Iron Golem option 2: Your Iron Golem’s slam attack also makes nearby enemies Vulnerable.

How to assign the Golem skill in Diablo 4

The reason why it’s confusing is because the Golem does not actually show in your ‘Abilities’ in the main menu. However, you can access and summon a Golem through the game’s skill menu.

Press ‘S’ on your computer to bring up the sub-menu/skill assignment menu. If you’re on a console, be that Xbox or PlayStation, hover over the ability in the toolbar at the bottom of the screen. Providing you have unlocked Golems, you’ll see Golem at the bottom of the menu.

You then need to add it to your hotbar by dragging it to your active skill bar. It’s worth noting that the Golem has both an active and passive ability. In the passive state, you’ll be protected by a Golem that has 659 life and attacks for 143 damage. The Golem will shed corpses as it takes damage.

In the active ability, you’ll be able to make the Golem unstoppable. But you’ll be hit with a cooldown of a little under 15 seconds. In this state, the Golem will taunt nearby enemies and take 30% reduced damage for the next six seconds.

That’s all you need to know about how to summon a Golem on Diablo 4. The Necromancer’s Book of the Dead is the Necromancer’s class mechanic. While you can summon skeletal warriors, skeletal mages, and Necromancer golems, this Book lets you customize them.

For instance, the basic warriors can be upgraded to heavy-damage Skirmishers, protector Defenders, or scythe-wielding Reapers. Upgrades for your minions include additional health against physical attacks and bonus attack speed. Maximum life and damage reduction bonuses make your minions more durable in combat against physical damage.
