While making it through the USG Ishimura once isn’t for the faint of heart, there’s plenty in Motive’s Dead Space Remake to tempt even the most reluctant players into a second New Game Plus playthrough.

As part of Motive’s ground-up remake of the 2008 original, New Game Plus is more than a simple carry-over replay. Weapons, upgrades, suits, and credits follow you into the next playthrough, but there are changes and new content in tow. New Game Plus includes a host of new features that bestow Dead Space Remake with plenty of replayability potential.

So, what’s new about New Game Plus in Dead Space Remake?

Dead Space Remake New Game Plus Changes

New Ending

New Game Plus features a brand-new, ground-up created, never-before-seen alternate ending. You’ll need to find 12 Marker Fragments dotted around the USG Ishimura to unlock it. After collecting them, visit the Executive Quarters on the Crew Deck and slot the fragments into a statue in Captain B. Mathius’ room to trigger the new ending.

Level 6 Suit

In the original Dead Space, suit upgrades were capped at level 5. The remake introduces a further suit level – the new Suit Level 6 Advanced Soldier RIG. It’s available to buy from the first store you come across (near the Tram on the Medical Deck) in New Game Plus, though it costs a hefty 99,000 Credits. The suit boosts armor by 30%, so well worth it given what comes next.

Phantom Necromorphs

Phantom Necromorphs are a new enemy variant that only spawns in New Game Plus. They are tankier, cause more damage, are harder to take down, and have a different, far creepier look than the standard Necromorphs. For more details, check out our guide to Phantom Necromorphs in Dead Space Remake.

Impossible Difficulty

Last but not least, New Game Plus also allows you to crank the difficulty up to Impossible as long as you beat the game on Hard during your previous playthrough. It’s as tough as it sounds and is essentially a permadeath mode. If Isaac dies, back to the start of the game you go.

Furthermore, enemies cause even more damage, and Isaac’s arsenal is heavily nerfed, similar to the Hard difficulty level. You’ll unlock the Hand Cannon weapon and the Untouchable trophy for beating the game on Impossible.

As you can see, Dead Space Remake New Game Plus isn’t your run-of-the-mill NG+ with lots to offer players tempted by a replay.
