That fanatical Dr. Mercer quackā€™s been up to some shady business and spawned a pet Hunter ā€“ your first boss fight in Dead Space Remake. As aberrations go, it ranks up there and is much worse than the Necromorphs youā€™ve encountered so far, thanks to its ability to regenerate.

Classed as a Regenerator Necromorph, the Hunter taps into an unlimited supply of biomass to regenerate limbs in just a few short seconds. A barrel of laughs for Isaac ā€“ and us ā€“ to deal with then.

Dead Spaceā€™s normal tactic of slicing and shooting off limbs wonā€™t cut it here. Each time you painstakingly dismember the Hunter, it will, after a brief meltdown on the floor, grow them back, over and over again, which makes killing it a bit tricky.

In this guide, weā€™ll explain how to beat the Hunter boss in Dead Space Remake.

How to Beat the Hunter Boss in Dead Space Remake

Youā€™ll first meet the Hunter in Chapter 5 ā€“ Lethal Devotion. Try as you may to kill it; itā€™ll regenerate. Use Stasis to slow down the Hunter, then shoot off its limbs to immobilize it. Rinse and repeat until the door to Imaging Diagnostics unlocks. Rush through the door and run like the wind, following the locator path until you get to Cryogenics.

Once in Cryogenics, grab the liquid nitrogen at the center of the room. Dr. Mercer delivers a short speech. The doors of Cryogenics seal shut, leaving you alone with the Hunter. To beat the Dead Space Remake Hunter, youā€™ll need to draw it into the cryo chamber in the middle of the room, then interact with a console in the control room to freeze the Hunter.

First things first, kill the smaller enemies that spawn alongside the Hunter to make the fight easier. Then, lure the Hunter to the cryo chamber at the center of the room. Once the Hunterā€™s inside the chamber, use Stasis to slow it, then shoot off its limbs. At this point, you need to dash to the control room where Dr. Mercer was just before and engage the cryo chamber while the Hunter is still inside the chamber.

Itā€™s worth using Stasis again once youā€™ve dismembered the Hunter to give yourself enough time to reach the control room. Once there, interact with the console screen to trigger the freezing process. If done right, youā€™ll freeze the Hunter, win the first Dead Space Remake boss fight, and get a tissue sample for your efforts.
