Security Clearance Levels are among the host of new features introduced by Motive in Dead Space Remake. Acting effectively as keycards, these Security Clearance Levels grant access to previously inaccessible rooms, containers, and areas on the Ishimura.

These locked areas often contain valuable loot, such as ammunition, nodes, semiconductors, upgrades, and credits. For that reason alone, it’s worth backtracking once you’ve unlocked the corresponding Security Clearance Level. Most of these locked stashes are optional, but some form part of the Dead Space Remake story and are unmissable.

In this guide, we’ll explain how to get Security Clearance Level 1, Security Clearance Level 2, and Security Clearance Level 3 in Dead Space Remake.

How to Unlock Security Clearance Levels in Dead Space Remake

Dead Space Remake - How to Unlock All Security Clearance Levels

All three Security Clearance Levels are unlocked by progressing the story, so there’s no chance you’ll miss them. If you’ve spotted a room packed with juicy loot but can’t access it for the moment, don’t worry; you’ll often return to areas as part of the story or can backtrack by using the Tram system. Doors that require a Security Clearance Level appear on the map with number indicating the required clearance level.

Security Clearance Level 1

Security Clearance Level 1 is unlocked during Chapter 2 – Intensive Care after securing the captain’s RIG in the Medical Deck.

Security Clearance Level 2

You’ll pick up Security Clearance Level 2 during Chapter 4 – Obliteration Imminent after re-calibrating the ADS cannons and talking to Hammond in the Captain’s Nest.

Security Clearance Level 3

Lastly, you won’t get Security Clearance Level 3 until Chapter 7 – Into the Void and once you’ve found 2nd engineer Dallas’ RIG on the Mining Deck.

How to Unlock the Master Override

Peppered across the USG Ishimura’s various decks are rooms and containers locked behind another Security Clearance Level called Master Override. These rooms tend to contain valuable high-tier weapon upgrades.

To unlock Master Override, you’ll need to complete the You Are not Authorized side quest. The quest involves finding all seven crew RIGs, then visiting the Captain’s Nest and using the screen in the front-right of the room to get the Master Override.
