Chapter 2 is when Black Myth Wukong really opens up with missable events, areas, NPCs, and quests that will require you to go beyond the beaten path to find them. Whether it’s through pure luck or systematic exploration, these secrets are well worth tracking down. Here is a closer look at how to complete all Black Myth Wukong secrets in Chapter 2.
There are six major secrets in Chapter 2. These are as follows:
- Celestial Medicine
- Secret Loong boss
- Man in Stone
- Secret level
- Old Rattle Drum
- Buddha boss
We strongly advise you to complete the secret level first. The reason is that the Loong boss can be countered by the vessel reward at the end of the secret level. Defeating this boss then grants better weapon upgrades for the basic staff which is important for leveling up and progression.

Celestial Medicine
An NPC you meet early on in the chapter is the ginger wolf or fox creature called Xu Dog. The creature wants you to beat the yellow frog boss in the village. From there, you find him again to unlock Celestial Medicine crafting.
Man in Stone
The Man in Stone is a secret NPC, whose quest requires a key item from the Mother of Stone boss in the Rocks Flats cave area. Bring this item to the Man in Stone, located near the ravine next to the Squall Wayshrine slightly further down from the Flats shrine. This will unlock a special rarity NPC Vendor and grant a transformation spell.
Secret level
To unlock the secret level in Chapter 2, you must reach the Rock Site Crash Wayshrine. Here you will find a pathway on the left behind a fence. It leads a secret area where you can find the Drunken Pig. You will need to sober the pig up. To do so, you can get a Sobering Stone from the Man in Stone. You can also get a free one from a breakable box in the Windrest Hamlet. There’s a house with a garden you can enter on the right of the hamlet.
When you have the item, give it to the Drunken Pig. The pig then wakes up and wants to go to the Crouching Tiger Temple. You’ll find him at the top of the stairs on the right. Speak to him then give him a Jade Lotus, which you’ll have from the start of the chapter. They are located in the water right at the start of the chapter as you leave the desert cave.
From there, the boss wants gold. You need the Gold Ahraat piece, which drops from the First Rat Prince inside the Valley of Despair cave. The Rat King summons the boss if he survives the fight, if he dies, then you have an item to summon him near the large pit. Defeat the boss then give the Drunken Pig the gold piece.
Return to the area where you first found him. You’ll see him near the right next to a gate. He’ll challenge you to a fight, and beating him unlocks the secret level. In the secret level, you need to defeat a tiger boss. Once defeated, you can speak to his master. The master will summon a beetle boss. Get the boss low, then the NPC will help you beat it.
Secret Loong boss
To get the secret Loong boss, you need to unlock a secret room:
- Go to the Valley of Despair cave where you fight the First Prince boss.
- Get it to smash the stone wall.
- If not, then use the Wandering Wight spirit to smash it.
- Head inside and loot the chest.
- Go the the Rock Flats Keeper’s Shrine and interact with the Sandfall.
- Defeat the secret boss.
The Rock Flats is an optional Wayshrine on the right side as you come down and fight the Stone Vanguard boss. Head right through the gate to find a shrine nearby. From the shrine look to the distance and you’ll see the Sandfall. When inside, you will fight a boss.
This has some easy-to-dodge melee and jump attacks. However, its main DPS tools are its drumming-type skills. It will emit lightning shockwaves around the room. The chapter 2 secret level vessel interrupts the boss’ shockwave move. You can also interrupt it with Earth Wolf or other stagger spirits. The long-staff heavy stance also allows you to dodge. Just be careful of your stamina bar.
You can stand on the rocks while the boss does his drum slamming shockwave skill. This should avoid the ground damage.
The Old Rattle Drum quest
To start this quest, you need to get the Old Rattle Drum key item from the Tiger Acolyte boss. You can find the boss on the bridge at the end of the Windrest Hamlet area:
- Valley of Despair – Use the Keenness of Tiger and Sternness of Stone to enter the gate near the king’s boss.
- Go down and turn right into a small area with zombies. You’ll hear a ghost. Use the rattle when prompted.
- Windrest Hamlet – Go to the Windrest Hamlet and enter where you battled the ninjas. If you’re facing the gate, turn right to the corner to find another rattle location.
- Village – Go to the Village Entrance Keeper’s Shrine and go to the area where you fight the Earth Wolf mini-boss. There’s a pathway on the left side as you enter via the gate. There are more areas to rattle the drum.
Doing all this brings you to a missable boss called the Mad Tiger. You get the mad Tiger spirit as a reward. There’s also a chest that gives you a Plaguebane gourd as a reward, too.
Buddha statue secret boss
When you reach the Rock Flats Shrine, you can start finding Buddha statues. There are six scattered around the pathways, inside the cave, along the scaffolding of the cave, and in the Squall area. You can normally tell they are close by due to the sound they make.
- Near the Flats shrine
- Inside the lower part of the cave
- Top of the cave that leads outside to a ledge
- Next to the Squall shrine from the cave
- Near the road next to the ravine in the Squall
- On top of the scaffolding near the ravine
When you have all six Buddha eyeballs, go to the large arena where you battled the Stone Vanguard near the Crash Site shrine. There’s a boulder you can interact. This spawns a missable optional golem boss. It gives you an item that you can use to craft a new weapon type that specialises in heavy attacks.
