As you make your way through Chapter 2, you’ll find a several curious objects dotted around the Crouching Tiger Temple. They require one of two items to open them, as revealed by the prompt when you interact with them: the Sterness of Stone and Keeness of Tiger. These key items are locked behind two Chapter 2 bosses in Black Myth Wukong that you need to defeat. Here’s everything you need to know about how to get the Sterness of Stone and Keeness of Tiger.
How to get the Keenness of Tiger
The Keenness of Tiger is the simplest of the two to get. You’ll find the Tiger boss at the top of Crouching Tiger Temple:
- From the village, proceed through, and take the right when you enter the defender area. From there, turn right and enter the boss arena where you fight the Rat King and Second Prince Boss.
- Defeat the Rat King, get the new Wayshrine, and then enter the cave system.
- Proceed through the cave system, avoiding the ranged enemies. You’ll find a crack in the wall to shimmy through.
- Inside you’ll fight a bat creature. You can then take an exit outside.
- The road takes you to the base of the Crouching Tiger Temple with a shrine to rest at.
- At the top of the Crouching Tiger Temple is a tiger boss.
- Defeating the Tiger boss gives you the Keeness of Tiger.

- Descend down the Crouching Tiger Temple.
- Activate the Windrest Bridge Wayshrine.
- Proceed through the area in a linear way.
- Enter the large town and fight the enemies inside. You’ll then come across a large gate in the distance with three imperial ninjas guards on the roof.
- Defeat the guards, then open the gate.
- On the other side of the gate is the Windrest Hamlet.
- Proceed forward. There are more guards, and ranged enemies around the pathways and inside the cave.
- On bridge is a mini-boss you must fight near the tornado.
- Go through and enter the cave.
- Descend the cave.
- Jump over the gap into the new area.
- You’ll feel and hear a rumble in the floor. Approaching it will activate a boss battle against the Stone Vanguard
- Defeat the Stone Vanguard to get the Sterness of Stone
The area is fairly long, with some new guard enemies to fight. You’ll then enter a large village/hamlet, and fight more imperial guards and other enemy rats. Be careful in these areas as they are somewhat mob-dense and large. Feel free to explore them for chests and other loot.
As you progress, you’ll come across a bridge with a boss. The boss isn’t too hard to beat, but it does combo a lot and is fairly aggressive. Feel free to immobilize it a few times to put pressure on the creature.
Once that’s done, progress into the cave. There are a few enemies you can easily ignore here if you want to. Descend down the cave, and you’ll find the Stone Vanguard. You can’t skip this boss to reach the Shrine just to the left.
The boss is a large creature with slow and well-telegraphed attacks and jump attacks. There’s also a slam down attack with spikes that appear around him. It’s similar to the Noble fight in that regard. During the double fist ground spike skill, roll back twice to be safe. The boss also performs a rock throw, that spawns other rock enemies that jump at you. They’ll die after they land though so just keep dodging. The boss also has a lot of defense and health, so chip away at the block and trade smartly to avoid its devastating, yet slow moves. Once the boss is defeated, you will automatically acquire the Sterness of Stone.
Where can you use the Sterness of Stone
The Sterness of Stone can be used at the following locations:
- Crouching Tiger Temple
- Valley of Despair Wayshrine
Near the Valley of Despair Wayshrine, you can open the gate where you battled the Rat King and Second Prince. This unblocks a large area with two more bosses inside. You’ll also find more NPCs if you completed the red wolf and the old man quest lines. The red wolf is under the village and wants you to beat the yellow frog boss. The old man was early on in Chapter 1.
If you go to the Crouching Temple first, you’ll descend down the temple. There’s another mini-boss that rewards a spirit down here among other lootables. It will eventually lead you to the same Wayshrine you find when finding the Wolf NPC. If he’s there, you’ll unlock the ability to craft Celestial Medicines.
