Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is prepping for an October 28, 2022 release date and will be the biggest multiplayer First Person Shooter of the year. The game was set for a remake following the success of the first Modern Warfare Remake released back in 2019. The closed exclusive beta for the PlayStation family of systems is now over, and fans that can’t wait for the upcoming release can hop into the open beta right now, available for both Xbox and PC owners.

Modern Warfare 2 Beta Maps

A new Modern Warfare release won’t come empty-handed, as players will get to experience a plethora of new multiplayer maps added into the mix. To get a taste of it, Infinity Award is allowing users the chance to experience a few of these maps as a part of the closed and open beta for the title.

For the Open and Closed Beta, players will get to enjoy large multiplayer offerings catered to immersive firefights. Players will gain access to two different map styles, Core Maps and Battle Maps.

Core Maps

Core Maps allow users to duke it out in a 6v6 combat situation. The game modes fans will get to enjoy in the closed beta include Domination, Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed, Hardpoint, Search and Destroy and Free for All. All Core Maps for Modern Warfare 2 will allow gamers to engage in shootouts in different locations around the world.

Battle Maps

Moving on to Battle Maps, we get to enjoy larger-scale maps that take place in Zones and POIs featured in the upcoming Warzone 2.0 map, which is a very neat addition to Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer ahead of Warzone 2.0’s Launch, which is slated for a November 16, 2022 release.

One peculiar thing to note here is that the Marina Bay Grand Prix Map is not included in the list. The Map was initially announced for both the open and closed beta, but Infinity Ward removed all signs of the add-on map from its social media sites, including the teaser trailer for the map as well. It might be possible that the map might be added later to the title upon its official release. Till then, we’ll have to wait it out.

Core Maps

Farm 18

Farm 18 is one of the map offerings featured in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. The map features a training facility that has been repurposed from an abandoned cement factory in Kastovia. This is one of the core 6v6 map offerings mentioned earlier, so players will engage in close-quarters combat and short-ranged fast-paced fire-fights.

An interesting point of interest in the map is the Dormitory building. The Dormitory is based on Pavlov’s House from the map Pavlov featured in the original Call of Duty Game. Several interesting additions also include pictures of John Price, Euphrates Bridge, Farah Karim, Gun Runner, and a picture of the trench from the Grazna Raid.

Valderas Museum

Valderas Museum is one of the more interesting maps featured in the beta. Players get to gun it out in a museum filled with priceless pieces of art with a few exquisite structures scattered across the map. This map offering has truly been a refreshing addition to the modern set of maps added to the game.

So what can you expect in terms of gameplay from this map? Players will have to go toe to toe against each other to rake up kills in close-range firefights. You’ll get to duke it out in short corridors and alleys. There are a few longer corridors added into the fray, perfect to camp and kill enemies with the longer-range arsenal of weapons featured in the game. The display exhibits aren’t just for display. You can use them as cover to make for an interesting line of defense.

Mercado Las Almas

Mercado Las Almas seems to be one of the more well-rounded maps offered in the Modern Warfare 2 Beta. The layout and structure of the map allow players to adopt a flexible playstyle. Every type of setup and weapon is encouraged, so don’t be afraid to mix things up and experiment in what we consider one of the most balanced maps in the game for now.

The map tells a story of its own if players decide to take a closer look at the map. The market was once a place for families to thrive and enjoy themselves. But soon enough, it became the center of a drug war between the Las Almas Cartel and the local authorities, as evident from the various police cars and vans scattered across the map.

Although Mercado Las Almas is a 6v6 core map, it seems to be one of the bigger maps in the current offerings. Although it’s designed for 6v6 firefights, you can easily notice that it’s bigger than the rest of the maps on today’s list. This sounds like pretty good news if you’re handy with a Sniper Rifle.

Breenbergh Hotel

The final map for the Modern Warfare 2 Beta is the Breenbergh hotel. It’s not big, neither is it small. The map has a medium-sized layout allowing players to experiment with plenty of playstyles. You could run and gun, go with a standard assault rifle setup, or use a sniper to quick scope on the go. It’s pretty merciful to both long-range and short-range player setups.

This map conveys a story of its own too. Breenbergh Hotel was once a five-star hotel located in the heart of Amsterdam, but due to a brewing conflict, the hotel was quickly evacuated, and now, it’s a hub for gamers to engage in fire-fights.

Players engage in shoot-outs inside the Hotel. You get to access and exploit many corridors for long-range combat and can very well act as chokepoints with masters of the sniper rifle. Furthermore, you also get some tight corners and squeezes for close-quarters fire-fights too.

Grand Prix Map

The Marina Bay Grand Prix Map was set out to be one of the most exciting and original maps in the roster of multiplayer offerings in the Modern Warfare 2 Beta and Launch. As of right now, all the information and data linked to this specific map have been taken down by Infinity Ward with no explanation in sight.

The Grand Prix Map was set on a modern F1 race track bearing quite the similarities to the Singapore GP race track found in the aforementioned country. The map featured a few indoor areas along with plenty of space outside, encouraging long-range engagements. The indoor areas seemed perfect for bolting and gunning down enemies with an SMG.

The Grand Prix Map was designed for 6v6 core battles and was meant to be the shining star of the closed beta, but it suddenly vanished from the internet. Hopefully, it’ll be relisted upon Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2’s launch.

Battle Maps

Sa’id

Sa’id was added late to the Modern Warfare 2 beta and is one of the larger-scale maps released for the beta. Essentially, Sa’id is a battle map that allows players to engage in firefights in a map that can hold upto 64 players to engage in 32v32 ground war matches.

Players can adopt a number of playstyles as the map offers players abilities to engage in both long, medium, and short-range firefights. Battle maps offer tons of versatility over the 6v6 core maps of the game.

Sariff Bay

Sariff Bay is another one of the battle maps featured for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2’s open beta. The map is designed for the larger Ground War Modes that allow players to engage in 32v32 firefights. The large-scale battle map is set in the United Republic of Adal’s main port.

Leaked Maps

Apart from the maps officially confirmed by Infinity Ward, some gamers have gone out of their way to datamine Modern Warfare 2, allowing multiplayer map leaks and rumors to brew. Having said that, the leak features quite an extensive list, which sounds pretty promising.
