Call of Duty Modern Warfare is set for an October 28, 2022, launch date. Season 1 for Multiplayer will commence on November 16, 2022, along with Warzone 2.0’s release. As for Call of Duty’s Multiplayer Beta, things seem to be going fairly well, except for one small problem. The Marina Bay Grand Prix Map is missing from the game entirely.

Marina Bay Grand Prix Map Overview

The Marina Bay Grand Prix Map seemed to be one of the more exciting additions to Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer beta. The Grand Prix Map featured a modern F1 race track. Long-range firefights could’ve been a thing on the open portions of the map. The map also featured a few indoor areas for players to engage in fast-paced close-quarters combat.

What Happened to the Map?

The Grand Prix Map was designed with 6v6 core battles in mind. The map was scheduled to become a part of the closed beta, but it suddenly vanished from the forefront of the game. Players speculated that the map would feature Formula 1 vehicles that would potentially run over players.

Prior to this whole fiasco, Infinity Ward issued a statement about the Grand Prix Map. The developer has since removed all traces and mentions of the map entirely.

The Modern Warfare II Beta is set to feature a robust multiplayer experience going beyond the Core 6v6 experience with a variety of meticulously designed maps of various sizes, and an equally impressive set of Modes, Progression experiences, and other aspects that will be more thoroughly revealed at Call of Duty: Next. – Infinity Ward

In addition, we revealed a fly-through of Marina Bay Grand Prix, where combat occurs within the main infield of an urban race circuit, one of the 6v6 Multiplayer maps confirmed for the Beta. – Infinity Ward

It was before the launch of the ongoing beta that Infinity Ward reported that players would get to hop into the new add-on map. For reasons unknown, that has certainly not been the case as it’s evident that the map is missing from the beta entirely.

It’s not clear what’s happened, but Activision has deleted all mentions of the Grand Prix map for #MWII. The overview video and more have been removed from all social media. The map was originally announced to be in the beta. – CharlieIntel

Speculation

It’s been reported that the map was apparently quite similar to a Grand Prix race track located in Singapore. It’s speculated that the FIA and Singapore GP stepped in to prevent Activision from including the map within the title to not associate their name with violence and guns. It’s pretty evident that a well-respected racing community and the governing bodies associated with it wouldn’t prefer the likeness of Formula Racing to be tarnished.

Keeping that in mind, Infinity Ward would have made a deal behind closed doors and might have settled to remove all mentions of the map from its social media, websites and even go so far as to remove any trailers or screenshots of the multiplayer addition.

Conclusion

Either way, the Marina Bay Grand Prix Map was set up to be one of the most anticipated additions to Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, and the unexpected removal of the map has severely disappointed the Call of Duty gaming community. Hopefully, the map might make a return to the game sometime post-launch. Till then, we’ll have to wait and see.
