Wuthering Waves has only just been out for a few months, but already it has quickly developed a strong and passionate fanbase. WuWa is excellent, and it’s only set to get bigger between now and the rest of the year. Even though there’s a lot of 2024 remaining, Wuthering Waves has just beaten Honkai Star Rail and Final Fantasy at the Mobile Game Awards.
Right now we are in the early stages of 1.2, and next month we will be treated to update 1.3. Leaks have revealed exciting kits for both Youhu and The Shorekeeper, meanwhile, other rumors suggest we may not get Camellya until after 2.0. Previous leaks have also suggested WuWa will transition from 1.4 right into 2.0.
We cannot wait for 1.3 to come out and 1.4 to top off what has been an incredible year for Wuthering Waves so far. The game is set to get even better between now and the end of the year, but already it is winning big awards.
Wuthering Waves wins at Mobile Game Awards
Wuthering Waves has just won at the Pocketgamer Mobile Game Awards. Kuro won the Best Audio and Visual Accomplishment category, and it beat the following juggernauts to the trophy:
- Final Fantasy 7 Ever Crisis
- Honkai Star Rail
- Howl
- Monopoly Go
- Monster Hunter Now
- Paper Trail
- Peridot
- Ridiculous Fishing Ex
- Sea of Conquest
- Sky Children of Light
- Super Dragon Punch Force 3
As you can see from the above list, Wuthering Waves beat some massive titles and IPs. Final Fantasy and Monster Hunter are both renowned franchises, Monopoly Go is possibly the biggest mobile game of all time, and Honkai Star Rail is from Hoyoverse, the king of the gacha games genre.
In addition to winning Best Audio and Visual Accomplishment, Wuthering Waves was nominated for Game of the Year, too. Monopoly Go was the GOTY winner, but a nomination for Wuthering Waves is incredible, especially since it’s only a few months old and there was no nomination for Genshin Impact.
Reacting to the win on the Wuthering Waves subreddit, many fans are pleased for Kuro. There’s an acknowledgement that the music in WuWa isn’t the strongest, but the visuals are absolutely spectacular, and is probably why it won.
Many fans are hoping Kuro will announce some free rewards as a thank you to the fanbase, but nothing has been posted as of writing.
