If you’ve been paying attention to the story in Wuthering Waves, you’ll know all about the Black Shores and its status as a somewhat hidden organisation. Some playable characters, such as Encore, belong to this organisation and the latter story arcs have been all about the Black Shores. This is why the discovery of some Black Shores NPCs milling around towns and other areas in the overworld is sparking a ton of speculation among fans.

At the moment, Wuthering Waves is over halfway through patch 1.1, with the release of Changli marking the midway point. As it stands, many people have reached the end of the available main story quests and are hungry for more content. As such, it could simply be wild speculation, but the discovery of these NPCs dressed in the Black Shores garb might hint towards just that.

Shared on r/WutheringWaves, the post announcing the discovery of these NPCs is titled: “There is a Black Shores Member just standing around in Hongzhen!” The post shows an image of the NPC in question, located in Hongzhen. You can see the post here:

Naturally, the post has sparked a lot of debate, chief among them is many wondering if this person is a hint towards what’s coming next in the WuWa story. “Yeah this is prolly going to be our Black Shores arc guide to the island”, speculates one commenter. It’s certainly true that the NPC looks a bit more unique than most NPCs in the game, giving them the appearance of someone we can see having a bigger role to play.

Based on the response, it seems that many people didn’t notice that these NPCs were even around. One comment on the post was ecstatic about the discovery, saying: “Yo! Nice find!”, while another said, “There’s a guy near the theatre too”. Finding one NPC seems like it can be brushed off, but two Black Shores characters lurking around seems to point to something more. Time will tell if we see these two play a role in the story, but all we can do is wait until patch 1.2 onwards to see.
