Embark has revealed a new mode coming to The Finals called Terminal Attack. This was in the form of an exciting trailer that showed glimpses of gameplay while explaining the rules and unique gimmicks. We’ve been waiting for this new mode ever since it was first teased in update 2.4.0, and now we fortunately don’t have too long to wait until the release date for when The Finals Terminal Attack will come out.

While Terminal Attack is exciting, there’s plenty else to anticipate for The Finals beyond this week’s update. Embark has said they will try to add a game-breaking addition in the future, and many fans are impatiently waiting for this dreamy goth girl skin to drop. As for wishlists, fans are hoping that Embark will introduce an optional feature loved by Fortnite fans.

The long term future of the game is great as is its current status with fan-favorite modes such as Cashout and Powershift. However, in just a couple of days, things are set to get even better as players are getting the new Terminal Attack mode for free.

The Finals Terminal Attack release date

The release date for when The Finals Terminal Attack mode will come out is May 2nd. This was confirmed by Embark in their reveal trailer for the new mode.

We previously knew aspects about the mode before its reveal thanks to teases from the developer. The update 2.4.0 intro suggested it was 5v5, and a playtest from Embark stated that it would feature eliminations. All of these teases have now become gospel.

As per the official Terminal Attack webpage, it is a ‘5v5 attack & defend mode played over multiple rounds where teams take turns defending and attacking an objective’. There is no healing, there are no revives, and you only have one life per round.

There will be seven rounds maximum, and the winner will be decided in a best of seven rotation where your team and the opposition switch back-and-forth between playing as attackers and defenders. Below is the objective for both positions:

Attackers:

  • Deliver the Decryption Key to one of the terminals and ensure the transfer is complete

Defenders:

  • Prevent the Attacking team from completing their mission by defending the terminal

Before Terminal Attack arrives, below are all of the modes currently in the game:

  • Cashout:
    • Teams compete to collect the most cash within an 8-minute time limit.
  • Bank It:
    • Four teams of three compete to bank coins scattered throughout the arena in this casual-friendly, combat-focused game mode.
  • Powershift:
    • A casual 5v5 game mode where two teams compete to escort a platform through the arena.

In addition to the new Terminal Attack mode, The Finals update this week will introduce incoming nerfs that have massively divided fans online. Attack and Defend is surely bound to delight fans, but it’ll be interesting to see how the community responds to Embark’s latest round of nerfs.
