The Finals Season 5 release date
The release date for The Finals Season 5 is December 12th. This is confirmed on the official reachthefinals X account.
Once S5 launches, players on PS4 will be able to join the game for the very first time. It feels odd that the game is debuting on PS4 consoles one-year later, and it will be interesting to see how Embark’s multiplayer shooter performs on Sony’s last-gen machine.
While the release for PS4 is neat, some extra good news for current-gen gamers is that new graphics modes are being introduced for the Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PS5 Pro. This update will allow PS5 and Xbox players to enjoy the action in 120Hz.
When does The Finals Season 5 start?
The expected start time for The Finals Season 5 is 2AM PT/5AM ET/10AM GMT on December 12th. This is when updates typically come out from Embark, but there are occasional delays.
While the start time hasn’t been confirmed, the in-game countdown says Season 4 ranked will end in 18-hours and 30-minutes as of 1PM GMT on December 11th. This suggests S4 ranked will end at 11:30PM PT on December 11th, as well as 2:30AM ET/7:30 AM GMT on December 12th.

Countdown
Below is a countdown to when the new season is expected to start:
New map
The new map set to be introduced by Embark is Bernal. Per Embark’s S5 teaser, this new playground is a “magical town set in the shadow of the awe-inspiring Peña de Bernal, one of the largest monoliths in the world”.
It’s probably the most colorful and beautiful map in the game, and it swaps the arena for narrow, cobblestone streets as well as colonial plaza. You will be able to leap from rooftop-to-rooftop, and, of course, you will be able to destroy almost everything in sight.
New weapons and gadgets
Below are the new weapons and gadgets for The Finals Season 5:
New weapons:
- ShAK-50: A heavy-hitting rifle for the Heavy that fires two bullets per shot, delivering immense stopping power with each pull of the trigger.
- Cerberus 12GA: A break-action triple shotgun for the Medium loaded with incendiary shells that can set both contestants and the environment ablaze.
New gadgets:
- Gravity Vortex: a deployable gadget for the Light with a remote trigger that creates a local singularity that pulls in everything around it, including objectives, players and objects.
- Lockbolt Launcher: a gadget for the Heavy that shoots an anchor into the environment that captures and holds up to three targets. Players are still able to move when anchored but they won’t get far.
