Tears of the Kingdom has only been out for a few hours, and already players are using the game’s mechanics to come up with ingenious solutions to problems using the game’s abilities.

Even in the very early game, it seems there’s plenty of experimentation to be had, and the ingenuity of the Zelda community is on full display here. Over on the Tears of the Kingdom Reddit, a user by the name of Paradox Guardian has shared their method of allowing Link to safely descend on the sky islands in the game’s opening hours.

Near the beginning of Tears of the Kingdom, Link finds himself on the sky islands, which can be quite tricky to navigate as you don’t have a parachute yet. Furthermore falling too far at this point usually results in Link falling off the screen and being respawned – minus a heart – back where he jumped from. You’re supposed to slowly make your way down the islands gradually, until you can make it to the game’s first boss.

However, Paradox Guardian doesn’t have time for all of that, and shows themselves chopping down a tree, before using the Ultrahand to lift and position the resulting log over a ledge overlooking an island below. They then use Recall to freeze the log in place just long enough for Link to grab on, and ride the log down. Because Link’s riding the tree down, it negates the fall damage and allows him to progress safely.

It’s a very smart plan, and is sure to be just the tip of the iceberg of the avalanche of neat tricks, tips and amazing Rube Goldberg-like machines to get through the game. We can’t wait to see what they come up with next.
