Update: Embark confirmed that this weapon leak is fake, but they have also confirmed skins are coming to The Finals.
The Finals is only a few weeks away from the beginning of Season 3. A lot has been teased for the event on the game’s official Discord, but marketing has not yet begun so mostly everything still remains a mystery. Something that has been teased by the developer is the addition of a ruby rank, and a newly leaked The Finals weapon skin points to this ruby rank coming in Season 3.
Although this week’s update is bare, the good news about The Finals update 2.9.0 is that it has extended the stay of Terminal Attack with the developers ultimately aiming to make it a mainstay and permanent mode. In addition to the extension of Terminal Attack, fans who participated in the recent community event should be finding cute pink canvas shoes in their inventory.
The looming prospect of Embark’s next chapter is enticing, and the first official Season 3 teaser has arrived. There’s plenty of speculation as to what the theme of Season 3 will be, and we could be getting the ruby rank judging by a leaked new skin for the good old sledgehammer.
Leaked The Finals sledgehammer ruby skin
Reddit user demerf has shared a ‘Promo for new sledge skin that got removed from files this update‘. The promo image is of The Finals’ sledgehammer but with a golden handle and ruby emerald head. In addition, the weapon also points to Season 3 as there’s the branding of ‘S3 Ruby Contestant’ in gold.
Embark has previously teased the addition of a new ruby rank to the game with accompanying skins. On the game’s official Discord, Embark Rob posted a message saying “Ruby has never been in the game… but it looks like this!”. The message was accompanied by an image of The Finals logo in a beautifully colored Ruby emblem.
In regard to skins, Rob said “Personally I would love that, but it depends on if people want more skins I guess.. TBH the ruby skins look great if you ask me, the shader and texture work that aKiM & maTT have done is amazing…”.
Although not official, it does appear that we will be getting the ruby rank in Season 3 with at least a skin for the sledgehammer. Hopefully there are even more ruby skins as the sledgehammer looks absolutely gorgeous. Unfortunately though, reaching the new rank will most likely be near impossible for most players.
