Despite Helldivers 2 having only released two months ago, the story has already evolved drastically, with players taking on the robotic Automatons and the Terminids in order to save Super Earth. Helldivers 2 has already seen numerous updates with the addition of the exosuit mechs, new weapons, and Major Order community events. As the game continues to grow in scope and popularity, the story will continue to change with it and players have begun theorising what could be in store for the Helldivers in the coming months.

In a Reddit post, Helldivers 2 players have been sharing theories as to what could be coming to the game in the next few weeks and months. One theory is regarding whether we will eventually go into the bug holes where the Terminids reside and attack them at the source, leading to their complete eradication. This would be a great way to move on from the Terminids in the future and would be a great premise for a Major Order. As Helldivers 2’s environments and maps are very open, the play style of the game would have to change for these missions as players would be confined to a more cramped space to fight in.

It is likely that Arrowhead Game Studios will look to create new environments and missions types if they want the game to remain popular as currently many of the missions are similar in nature, which will eventually get repetitive for players. Only time will tell as to what the developers have in store for Helldivers 2, but with it receiving frequent updates, it shouldn’t be long until we find out what they have up their sleeves.

With the Helldivers 2 story continuing to grow and evolve, now is a perfect time to jump into the game as it recently crossed eight million units sold.
