It should come as no surprise that Helldivers 2 has been a runaway success, and according to analysts, it shows no signs of slowing down. As reported by Bloomberg, analyst Doug Creutz has estimated that Helldivers 2 has sold over eight million copies, and shows no signs of slowing down.
While the official figures for Helldivers 2 haven’t been released, Creutz is confident in their estimation by basing this off the user figures on SteamDB. Helldivers 2 has surpassed more than 450,000 concurrent players, which Creutz says indicates the game is growing week-on-week. Helldivers 2 is so popular, it surpassed Palworld on Steam’s best-sellers chart.
With Helldivers 2 being out for only a month, it appears the daily users are barely dropping off. This is in part due to fresh updates and communication from Arrowhead Studios about updates and keeping the community involved.
Helldivers 2 may have surpassed 8 million copies sold, according to analysts
According to the analysts, Helldivers 2 might have surpassed eight million copies sold. At the moment, the only figure we have to go off is confirmation from Arrowhead saying Helldeivers 2 sold over one million copies in four days. Since launch, it has maintained a healthy player count, and this is exactly what Doug Creutz says is the most impressive thing. “We believe the game has performed well ahead of expectations”, says Kreutz.

- Marvel’s Spider-Man (3.3 million in three days at launch)

It’s easy to point to a few things about Helldivers 2 and see why the game became a runaway success. It is Sony’s biggest PS5 exclusive launch on PC, and it was released at a reasonable price. When you also consider the updates have been released in a steady stream and the devs tie the release of mechs to completing in-game objectives, it’s easy to see why the game is so loved. Not to mention, Arrowhead effectively has a Game Master called Joel who decides the objectives of the war.
Until we get the real figures for Helldivers 2 copies sold, it isn’t a huge stretch to believe the game has sold so well. Hopefully, Sony or Arrowhead can confirm the numbers, but it seems like the game’s popularity is only going to keep growing.
