With Helldivers 2 receiving regular updates and fresh content in the form of new cosmetics, weapons, armor, and Major Order events, it feels like the game has already evolved so much in the short time since its release in February 2024. The future looks bright for Arrowhead Game Studios’ latest release, and the community is excited to see what it brings next, many also share their own ideas in the hope that the developers will add them to the game in the future.
U/Emord_Nillap took to Reddit to share a concept they had created that would add weapon modifications to Helldivers 2. This has been popular in games such as Call of Duty for many years, and more recently Fortnite added this in Chapter 5 to add a new level of depth to the popular Battle Royale title.
The images, which you can see below, show various weapons, including the default Liberator Assault Rifle with various upgrades to improve aspects of it including reducing recoil, larger magazines, a better scope, and even increased melee damage. Check out the three images of this concept below.
With Helldivers 2 only being two months old at this point, Arrowhead Game Studios are just getting started with where it will likely take the game, so it is possible that we could see the mechanics of the game expanded to allow for weapon modifications. After all, it took Epic Games seven years to implement it into Fortnite. With how customizable Helldivers 2 already is in terms of your loadout, with Stratagems choices being very much tailored to the individual’s play style and type of mission they are playing, doing the same for weapons would make a lot of sense. This would also be a good opportunity to add saved loadouts, which is a feature I want to see added to the game as my loadout for fighting Automatons and Terminids are vastly different, with my favoring the Marksman Rifle for Automatons and Assault Rifle for Terminids.
Whether this is implemented in the future remains to be seen, but if it gets enough requests and gains enough traction it could happen. For now, you will need to ensure you’re using the best loadout possible as you take the fight to the Automatons and Terminids.
