Helldivers 2 player Dremskiy now has lots of ‘frends’ and I couldn’t be happier for them

Helldivers 2 has one of the most wholesome communities in gaming, with players coming together with the common goal of serving Liber-tea and working together as a team.

Although it has had it’s toxic moments during the PSN controversy, overall it is a great community to be a part of, and there is always a steady supply of memes being created for our entertainment.

An image has been circulating across Reddit and social media over the past few days of an interaction between two players. The conversation started when a Helldiver named Dremskiy joined the game of Tolga and some friends. Following Tolga explaining that the lobby was just for their friends, Dremskiy replied by saying “Im frend,” and this message tugged at the heartstrings of thousands of players who have since created many memes of it, as well as some requesting that an official ‘Frend’ title be added to Helldivers 2.

Arrowhead Game Studios and Sony have both acknowledged the meme, referencing the interaction on social media, cementing Dremskiy as part of the game’s lore and history.

With the meme blowing up on social media, many players wanted to be their ‘frend’ and now when you try and them it says the friend list is full and a request can’t be sent. I wonder if they’re aware that they’re a meme now and whether they were surprised by all of the friend requests.

This change has now been reverted by Arrowhead Game Studios following player feedback, so the game should be easier and more enjoyable to play now.
