Helldivers 2 has been one of the best and most successful games of the year so far, but it has admittedly slowed down over the past couple months. Fortunately, a new massive update is on the way with the Escalation of Freedom. Here is the release date and expected start time countdown for when the Helldivers 2 Escalation of Freedom update will come out, and you will also find everything new included.

There is a lot to look forward to for the future of HD2. We’re still awaiting on the Illuminate, and a fresh leak has given us our first look at the Illuminate in-game. Arrowhead’s shooter has seen a decline in players since the momentum started to slow down, but it has just seen an 88% increase in players, and many players have their hopes for which weapons they want nerfed and buffed in the upcoming update.

Helldivers 2 Escalation of Freedom release date is imminent, and the update start time is expected to launch similar to previous patches. It’s a massive patch on the way, and it will be out tomorrow.

The Helldivers 2 Escalation of Freedom update release date is August 6th. This was confirmed by Arrowhead on the game’s official socials with a teaser counting down to its launch.

In addition to this update arriving tomorrow, don’t forget there is the Freedom’s Flame Warbond coming out this week, too. This is set to arrive on August 8th, and it will pack a lot of fantastic new weapons and items.

Freedom’s Flame will be the newest Premium Warbond since Viper’s Commando. When Viper’s Commando came out, Arrowhead announced big changes to future Premium Warbonds with the revelation that they will no longer be monthly.

When does Helldivers 2 Escalation of Freedom come out?

The expected release time for when the Helldivers 2 Escalation of Freedom update will come out and start is between 2 AM PT to 5 AM PT, 5 AM ET to 8 AM ET, and 10 AM BST to 1 PM BST on August 6th.

Previous updates have typically landed at 2AM PT/5AM ET/10AM BST, but update times have occasionally slightly differed. Patches have almost always come out between the hours listed above, so we expect the same for tomorrow.

Arrowhead doesn’t confirm patch times, but we will update this article if anything changes and gets confirmed.

Everything new in the update

Below is a list of everything new set to arrive with the update:

• New Super Helldive difficulty
• New missions with bigger outposts
• Four new enemy types
• New swamp biome
• New quality-of-life changes for teams

All of the above come courtesy of the PlayStation Blog announcement. In regard to the new tenth difficulty level, Arrowhead says it will include “more bugs, more bots, more liberation, and more destruction,” and “Super Helldive is our most challenging, most relentless dive difficulty level yet… [with] greater rewards”.

As for the new enemy types, Arrowhead has confirmed the return of the Impaler from the original Helldiver experience. The Impaler is described as “big, imposing, and destructive,” and it will be accompanied by the Spore Charger, which is “shrouded in fog to obscure its location until it’s right up on you”.

Finally, among the new enemy types there will also be the “Terminid Alpha Commander, which is a supercharged Brood Commander that’s bigger, meaner, and doesn’t hesitate to call in other bugs for backup”.
