Arrowhead Game Studios has made some questionable changes to Helldivers 2 over the past few months, largely due to the developers releasing many reactionary updates to nerf any weapon that seemed even slightly overpowered. This led to many players being turned off and leaving the game, leading to a decreased player count that has yet to recover. With the Escalation of Freedom update right around the corner, players have been sharing what they want to see from the first major update.
U/recon1o6 took to the Helldivers 2 sub-Reddit to ask the community what nerfs they want to see changed in the future. With the Escalation of Freedom update coming on August 6th, there is no better time to make some changes.
U/KennyMinigun took to the replies to point out one recent nerf that has been frustrating to deal with, “The buff to Scout Striders explosive resistance.” This is one that I didn’t know had happened but I have noticed that something was different about the Scout Striders, so it all makes sense now.
They gave their thoughts on the change by saying “This makes them so annoying. When they flinch a huge distance after being shot, and they can shrug off multiple Autocannon hits.”
A second change they also pointed out was that “Patrol spawn in non-important locations,” adding, “It just feels like unnecessary stress. And the spawns are sometimes ridiculously close.”
U/Adm-Hood has predicted the future by stating that “The impending change to the Commando Rocket Launcher,” is one change that they don’t want to see, remarking “No thank you leave it as is.”
Finally, U/Brianm650 wants to see the patrol spawns changed saying “Patrol spawn changes with respect to Helldiver group sizes. This was one of the worst implemented changes which no one outside of AH studios staff who were upset about people solo clearing level 9 maps with 0 deaths saw as needed and it is a change that fundamentally just made the game less fun.” “For anyone wondering: games should be fun.”
It will be interesting to see what changes Arrowhead Game Studios makes with the Escalation of Freedom update. We do know that it will feature quality-of-life changes such as kick-griefing prevention, but no information has been given on any other changes. What we do know though, is that it will feature new planets, new enemies such as the Impaler, and a level 10 difficulty which will surely push Helldivers 2 players to their limits.
