In addition to taking down hundreds of Automatons and Terminids in every mission, players are also tasked with collecting resources such as Requisition Slips, Samples, and Medals. These are used to unlock various upgrades in Helldivers 2, but many players have completed all of these and are stuck with thousands of resources and nothing to do with them. That could be changing though as the developers are working on a way to allow players to spend them, and we shouldn’t have long to wait.
The Helldivers 2 Community Manager Twin Beard took to Discord to answer questions from the community. Many of these were surrounding future updates and weapon buffs and nerfs, but one question stood out and is something that players have been wanting for a long time.
Resources in Helldivers 2 are split into four categories, Requisition Slips, Super Credits, Medals, and Samples, each with their own caps. With the game being out for over six months now, many players have exhausted all of the unlockables available in the game and have maxed out their resources, leaving them with nothing to collect during missions or work toward with Major Orders.
During the Q&A, Twin Beard revealed that Arrowhead Game Studios are looking into ways for players to use excess resources saying that “Various alternatives for surplus resources are being looked into.”
No more information has been given as to what this will be, but recently the Arrowhead CCO Johan Pilestedt did respond to a player about using Samples in a Weapons Lab to upgrade weapons, asking “Could we get some weapon lab, to improve weapons using samples? Once you have them maxed out they are pretty much useless, only picked up for the team, could be a good chance to raise the max number of samples and change between samples (like 40 singles for 1 rare or something), or could be a good way to improve your most used a beloved weapon and give maxed players something to do.” Pilestedt then revealed that this is “close to what we are working on.”
This would be a great way to use excess resources, as right now many players are left with maxed-out amounts and nothing to spend them on. Another great use could be to allow for boosters, such as spending resources to increase health, ammo, and speed up Stratagem call downs for a mission. It will be interesting to see how this is implemented and when it will be added to the game. But for now, all we can do is continue to spread managed democracy as the Galactic War continues. To help with this, optimizing your loadout is key to taking down the Automatons and Terminids, so I highly recommend checking out our Helldivers 2 best weapons guide and best armor guide to put you in a position to serve Liber-tea to your enemies.
