Helldivers 2 Best Warbonds tier list
Warbonds are like a battle pass that can be unlocked using in-game currency and offer rewards like weapons and armour that you can purchase with medals. These medals are obtained by completing side objectives and missions. Make sure you save up enough medals because some of the items can get pretty pricey. Here is how we rank each of the Warbonds in Helldivers 2 in a tier list.
Tier | Warbond Name | Notable items and weapons |
---|---|---|
S-tier | Cutting Edge Servants of Freedom | LAS-16 Sickle, Stun Grenade, SG-8P Punisher Plasma GP-31 Ultimatum, Portable Hellbomb, G-50 Seeker, LAS-17 Double-Edge Sickle |
A-tier | Democratic Detonation Steeled Veterans Urban Legends | G-31 Grenade Pistol, BR-14 Adjudicator, G-123 Thermite SG-225IE Breaker Incendiary, P-4 Senator, G-10 Incendiary SR-18 Roadblock armor, E/AT-12 Anti-tank Emplacement, SH-51 Directional Shield |
B-tier | Truth Enforcers Viper Commandos Polar Patriots | SG-20 Halt, “Unflinching” armor perk, Dead Sprint Bushwacker Shotgun, Liberator Carbine, Experimental Infusion Incendiary Impact Grenade |
C-tier | Freedom’s Flame Chemical Agents | SG-451 Cookout, Firebomb Hellpods G-4 Gas Grenade, ‘Guard Dog’ Dog Breath |
1. S-tier: Cutting Edge
- LAS-16 Sickle laser packs real stopping power
- The Stun grenade is a staple for many loadouts
- LAS-7 Dagger doesn’t hold up against medium enemies
When looking through the list of best Warbonds in Helldivers 2, the Cutting Edge Warbond easily jumps out as S-tier and the best one available. Not only does this Warbond offer some of the best energy weapons in the game, but it also has some pretty awesome-looking armour sets. The most notable item in this Warbond is the LAS-16 Sickle which is considered to be among of the best weapons in the Helldivers 2, and this alone is reason enough to get the Cutting Edge Warbond. The Sickle can demolish armoured enemies if you can hit their weak spots. Meanwhile, the Stun grenade from this loadout is often considered to be among some of the best throwables in the game. Be warned, though, a buff has been teased for the ARC Thrower. Sidearm-wise, you get the LAS-7 Dagger, which is an interesting weapon but packs very little damage, making it worthless against medium-level foes.

2. S-tier: Servants of Freedom
- GP-31 Ultimatum is a highly destructive secondary that can bring down most enemies in one shot.
- Portable Hellbomb! Enough said.
- Both Double-Edge Sickle and the Seeker grenade are very good additions to the arsenal
- Only two new weapons – though very good ones!
Servants of Freedom has shaken up the rankings by coming out of the gates swinging. It might not seem like much on the surface, but every single offering in this Warbond is an excellent addition to the arsenal. From the GP-31 Ultimatum secondary that can level anything it hits, to the explosive new armor perk that lets you explode after dying. Not to mention the much-requested portable Hellbomb, something that was previously only given out as a mission-specific Stratagem. The LAS-17 Double-Edge Sickle shouldn’t be overlooked either, with its great horde-clearing potential. Lastly, the G-50 Seeker grenade will help you land grenade hits with the help of a seeker drone, so useful even if your aim is not the best. All in all, this Warbond should be on the top of your wish list.
3. A-tier: Democratic Detonation
- G-31 Grenade Pistol is fantastic, one of the game’s best sidearms
- R-36 Eruptor is in need of a damage buff to be truly exceptional
- BR-14 Adjudicator really isn’t worth considering
While Democratic Detonation could have been the best Warbond in Helldivers 2, a series of nerfs have unfortunately knocked it down into A-Tier, with the R-36 Eruptor feeling the brunt of this, losing the AoE damage from its shrapnel. That being said, the G-31 Grenade Pistol remains one of the best sidearms to take with you into battle, and the Adjudicator is also a solid, rounded weapon that can hold its own on higher difficulties. A-Tier in its current state, if we see a couple of buffs or the restoration of the R-36 Eruptor’s damage potential, it could be right back in S-Tier before you know it. Elsewhere, the BR-14 Adjudicator, an armor-piercing rifle, sounds decent, but is let down by poor ammo capacity and aiming issues.
4. A-tier: Steeled Veterans
- SG-225IE Breaker, JAR-5 Dominator and P-4 Senator are all capable weapons now they’ve been buffed
- P-4 Senator’s ammo capacity can cause issues when in thick of battle
Next up is the Steeled Veterans Warbond which, again, has some seriously nice armour sets. It wasn’t panned by the community on its release, but following some buffs to weapons like the SG-225IE Breaker, JAR-5 Dominator and P-4 Senator, it’s risen up the ranks on our tier list. Unlike the Cutting Edge Warbond which provides weapons to destroy armoured opponents, the Steeled Veterans Warbond is much more balanced, offering great weapons with solid damage against both Terminids and Automatons – worth picking up if you’ve got Cutting Edge already. Sidearm-wise you get the P-4 Senator, which is modeled on a revolver. It’s a decent little gun, but thanks to its limited ammo capacity, you’re going to need to be incredibly accurate.
While it’s easy to write off a Warbond because some primary weapons are lacking, look a bit deeper and you can sometimes find a gem. For eaxmple in Polar Patriots, the headline PLAS-101 Purifier is a weak link, but the Incendiary Impact Grenade is absolutely fantastic.
4. A-tier: Urban Legends
- Both armors come with an excellent perk
- Great Stratagem patterns
- More Super Credits than in other Warbonds
- It remains to be seen how useful the (only) melee weapon turns out to be
For a Warbond that didn’t bring any new notable weapons, Urban Legends offers an amazing variety of rewards. There are three Stratagem patterns, including the amazing Anti-tank Emplacement and the mobile Directional Shield. Then, there are the armors, which brought a very strong new perk, Siege Ready, that increases your primary’s reload speed and ammo capacity. The only weapon in the Warbond is the Stun Lance, which is, fortunately, a secondary – we have high hopes for it, but it can be situational at best. Lastly, this Warbond comes with more Super Credits to unlock than any other before it, in addition to urban camo patterns all around.
5. B-tier: Truth Enforcers
- SG-20 Halt is a decent new weapon, while the others aren’t too bad
- Has a useful armor perk with ‘Unflinching’ and Dead Sprint is a nice booster
- While there are good choices, most items aren’t as impactful as some better Warbonds
Truth Enforcers borders on being a great Warbond. With more time, it could perhaps soar higher in the rankings, but the current top ones are hard to beat. Still, this Warbond carries some very nice toys to play with, so you should seriously consider getting it. For one, it has three new weapons, out of which the SG-20 Halt looks to be the winner. Meanwhile, the SMG-32 Reprimand has an amazing reload animation. Dead Sprint is a very good situational booster and we can see it becoming very useful on the Terminid front. The aesthetics of the Warbond are simply amazing, but the main criticism has to be directed at a lack of a Heavy armor option – the two included are Light and Medium.
6. B-tier: Viper Commandos
- The Bushwacker Shotgun is a worthy sidearm, sadly crowded out by other, stronger options
- Viper Commandos boasts one of the best boosters in the game, Experimental Infusion
- K-2 Throwing Knife is bordering on useless
While the visuals are great, Viper Commandos was not the Warbond people were hoping for on release. This Warbond features the meme-worthy K-2 Throwing Knife but this really isn’t a good enough reason to consider it. The Bushwacker Shotgun, meanwhile, is another kettle of fish and makes a trusty sidearm. Add to the mix the Liberator Carbine, an alternate version of the Liberator, and you’ve got a decent Warbond. It’s worth noting that the armor sets here are pretty incredible, so it’s definitely worth strong consideration. The definite standout of this Warbond has to be the booster, Experimental Infusion, which boosts your team’s Stims to provide generous buffs along with healing.
7. B-tier: Polar Patriots
- Incendiary Impact Grenade is a must
- Pummeller SMG is well balanced thanks to stagger capability
- Verdict pistol doesn’t deal as much damage as it should
- PLAS-101 Purifier’s charge-shot delivery is very poor
Many would agree that Polar Patriots is one of the most underwhelming Warbonds that Arrowhead has added. A lot of blame can be put on the PLAS-101 Purifier, which is fundamentally flawed due to its charge-and-fire mechanism. With its Desert Eagle-inspired looks, the Verdict pistol doesn’t fare much better – offering only light to moderate damage to most weaker enemies. Salvation here comes in the form of the Pummeller SMG, which sneaks onto our best weapons list thanks to its ability to stagger enemies – though it’s still far from being among the best. Add to the mix the brilliant Incendiary Impact Grenade, which is one of the best grenades in the game thanks to prolonged fire damage following the initial explosion, and there are a couple of redeeming factors here. With a few buffs, which we know Arrowhead are doing, this Warbond could well rise up the ranks. For now, though, it’s a decent if not non-essential offering.
Amazingly, despite Polar Patriots introducing cold weather armour, none of them offer resistance to those weather hazards. It was such an oversight at Warbond’s launch that it likely soured it even further for much of the playerbase.
8. C-tier: Freedom’s Flame
- SG-451 Cookout is a good gun, following recent buffs
- Firebomb Hellpods are great fun, once you get used to them
- P-72 Crisper is a strange, flame-based sidearm that just doesn’t feel right
- There are far better, more well-rounded Warbonds
The Freedom’s Flame Warbond really should only be considered if you’ve already got the others. That being said, recent buffs have at least made some of the weapons a little bit less useless, including a 33% increase to the flamethrower. The P-72 Crisper, a handheld flamethrower which can be used as a sidearm, is really trumped by other offerings, while the SG-451 Cookout, a pump-action shotgun, ranks a bit better among our recommended weapons for your loadout, thanks to recent buffs. Another standout in the Warbond is the Firebomb Hellpods booster, which ignites the area they land in.
9. C-tier: Chemical Agents
- Dog Breath variant has potential to be a hands-free debuff tool
- It has decent tools for support-oriented players
- Gas attacks aren’t impactful enough to enter the wider meta
- Not a Warbond to look at for strong weaponry – there are none
The theme and appeal of the Chemical Agents Warbond are everything it has to ride on. It doesn’t come with any primary weapons, and only a single secondary – the healing-focused Stim Gun. Outside of that, there’s the G-4 Gas grenade that can be situationally useful. This Warbond also introduced Stratagem variants, in the form of Steriliser and Dog Breath, which modify the flamethrower and Guard Dog respectively. Simply put, the Caustic trait of gas attacks isn’t that strong, especially when you could be spending that time actually killing enemies. The new armor trait gives you gas resistance, which is once again only situational, and doesn’t even protect you from poison attacks from spewers, Bile Titans, and other similar enemies. Get this Wabond only if you enjoy the biohazard aesthetic and already have all the others.
In conclusion, If you haven’t got it already, you should get the Cutting Edge Warbond first. If you’ve already got that, you should get the Democractic Detonation, Steeled Veteran, and Urban Legends Warbonds next.
