The Galactic War is being fought across hundreds of planets in Helldivers 2. But, there could be a whole other unexplored galaxy out there that is home to even more threats. We already know about the Automatons, Terminids, and The Illuminate, and it is interesting to think about what could come to the game in the future.
U/FloralZachAttack took to the Helldivers 2 sub-Reddit to theorize that the galaxy may be much larger than what we can see on the Galactic War map saying “I just realized that the war map may not be actually showing all the planets in the galaxy as said and theorized that the war situation may look more like this considering the spreadful nature of bugs and reappearance of the bots from nowhere after apparently being allegedly being beaten.”
This makes a lot of sense as at one point we did succeed in completely eradicating the Automatons from the galaxy and were only able to fight the Terminids, although it did only last for one day. Then, the robot army came back with a vengeance and brought the Factory Strider with them to shake up Helldivers 2. So, where did they go?
While it is possible that the Automatons laid low on one of the planets that is currently unplayable, that would have still seen them be in the galaxy and it is unlikely that Super Earth wouldn’t have been able to track them. Instead, it seems that the bots left the known galaxy and went to a planet or Sector that we’re unaware of. So if the Automatons can do that, what else is being kept out of reach of Super Earth, or more importantly who? Could more factions be out there biding their time to make their prescience known in Helldivers 2?
Although it is fun to think about what may be out there, there are more pressing and immediate matters to contend with. The Escalation of Freedom update is right around the corner, which will be followed by the Freedom’s Flame Warbond. The next week or so will be a busy and exciting time for players.
