EA has tempered expectations by confirming it won’t be showing any new Star Wars games during next week’s EA Play Live showcase.

“We won’t be showing any new Star Wars games at EA Play Live on July 22nd,” reads an official Tweet. “But all of us look forward to celebrating with you next year when we share our vision for the Galaxy far, far away!”

As a result it seems we won’t be seeing any potential Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order sequel until next year at the earliest. One has been rumoured to be in the works for some time, with reports last February claiming EA was developing it alongside another, then unannounced, Star Wars game.

We did get an announcement of the free-to-play Star Wars: Hunters during a Nintendo Direct back in February for the Nintendo Switch. However, EA did confirm that it would be making more Star Wars games despite an announcement of a new open-world game at rival studio Ubisoft Massive.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order studio Respawn, meanwhile, has said they’re working on a new IP. Although that doesn’t necessarily mean they won’t be working on a sequel to their excellent 2019 adventure. It looks like we’ll be waiting a little longer to find out, but there’s still plenty to look forward to when EA Play Live takes place on July 22.
