UPDATE
EA has since clarified that Battlefield V will in fact offer Grand Operations in time for launch.
ORIGINAL ARTICLE
Electronic Arts has revealed that Battlefield V’s Grand Operations mode will not be available when the game launches this October.
Speaking in a post on the official Battlefield V website, the publishing giant said that the feature would arrive ‘shortly after launch,’ although to be honest that doesn’t really tell us bugger all.
Grand Operations is a pretty big deal for the World War II-based shooter. During the game’s reveal, developer DICE spent a lot of time talking about the multiplayer mode, which will offer narrative-driven events that really dip into the squaddie nature that the studio is hoping to build with Battlefield V.
It’s basically a meatier version of the Operations mode featured in Battlefield 1, and is set across a series of in-game days, where players can affect how the battle and narrative will play out depending on their actions.
Battlefield V is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on October 19, with an Open Beta due to kick off earlier in the month.
VideoGamer freelancer Ian Dransfield went hands-on with the game at E3, and his impressions confirm it’s at least not going to be s**t.
